Thermaltake's second backroom-surprise on its sprawling stand was a concept that landed late yesterday. The company was unsure whether to even show it at CeBIT 2008 but we're glad that it did. t's a refrigerated system that's still very much at the concept stage. But Thermaltake hopes to use its research to push niche solutions out into the mass market.

A simple condenser - with fan - is mounted where the chassis' rear fan would normally go. This connects to an expansion valve from where cooled liquid passes up to the CPU plate. The liquid moves on into a reduced-sized compressor before returning to the condenser to start the process again.

With copper running throughout the system, though, different configurations will be needed to suit differing motherboard layouts. And that appears to cause big problems for Thermaltake's plan to take this system into the mass market.

The company's trying to figure out how to get around that problem but, right now, even slight variations between motherboard layouts could undermine the whole idea.
I know it's thermaltake...but any idea about the performance?

The chassis is aluminium and features enough optical drives to suit any palette along with up to seven 3.5” HDD’s. There are clever little touches throughout, with clever cable management behind the HDD’s and noise absorption material around the PSU area.

    yeah
it's bad, but, sometimes you need to quote the pic for context
anyone know if there is forum code we can use to resize pics by manually defining the height and width they will display at?

    It's MCP7A or 730i I mean.
I heard that there's lots of problems for A0 version of MCP7A but that will be fixed in B2 and ready for release for late April.

I wish I was at CeBit!! It looks so much better than EHX or CES!!!!!!!!!!!!

the asus board looks like a waste. PCB and power could easily and silently be cooled by 2 or 3 yate loons

nvidia fails again. didnt they learnfrom 7950 GX2 that 2 pcb... *sigh*

lian-lis tall-arse case looks awesome, people are finally catching up to antec's P180
but the mobo placement isnt inversed - i really liked the inverse design

    but the 360 case?
how many can they possibly sell?
how many 360 owners would like to void their warranty for silence and cooling? (XS memembers are not average 360 users, ok so 50 people will buy it)

that foxconn keg better be filled with LN2

Gigabyte should be spending more resources on customer support than making self-contained watercooling memory loops, imho

asus's htcp (PCIE 1x?) card looks awesome, i wonder if its nvidia or ati...

Those are 2 separate heatsinks, RIGHT?!

    250GB SSD!??! I'd give $500 for that!

Looks great overall, thanks for sharing with us!!

    From Tomshardware
The company remained tight lipped about the next generation of the very popular Raptor line of 10.000 rpm drives. All we know that the next generation is indeed on its way with initial samples possibly arriving as early as spring. WD promised us that the competition can expect "transfer rates of over 100 MB/s" and radical technological innovations.

so mini phase from thermaltake. a fantastic idea.
not even insulated, or maybe they just left that off for the event.

heres an idea for them: since that compressor is so small, it likely puts out maybe 110 psi high side, maybe, so use a stainless braided flex tube for the cpu lines, that way they flex and make it easier to install. just a thought.

I was thinking exactly the same. Flexlines have been out for quite a while

But, I think that compressor will be too small for almost anything, unless you're into cooling Cellys, or if temperature isn't an issure...
