    lol

Well, a couple pages back someone stated

    my q6600 ran at 3.6ghz @ 1.5v and 3.9ghz @ 1.56v
So I was using that as my safety net. Although I think 1.5 is red.

no, it will not void the warranty because you can reverse it's effect by using an eraser.

that's half the reason your voltage is so far off. it should be A LOT closer to what you have it set at.

the actual mod is in this tread somewhere. probably on the first page or so. i will look.

Yeah, I know where the pencil mod is. I just now started to overclock so I haven't had a reason to do the mod till now.

I wonder why it's so far off.

Edit: Good news -- it's finally showing stability at 1.481v. Prime95's been going for 30 minutes now.

its ok i guess but i also have a 680i for my other comp. its kinda plane jane in the looks department though if you ask me. I like the way Asus boards look .
the only reason i went with an Evga instead of an asus is kinda for a funny/crazy reason. A while back when all i had was my Evga 680i, i had taken it to work to blow it out with our air compressed shop air to get it nice and clean inside. well after blowing it out i had sat it on the trunk lid of my car while attempting to open the door. well i got the door open but my computer crashed to the ground from the top of the trunk lid straight to the concrete. Im talking about a freefall from like 4ft!!
i nearly cried and my boss just laughed at me. well from that point i was convinced that it would be nothing more than a really expensive paper weight.
well after picking it up i took it home and pulled it out of its smashed thermaltake armor Jr. case and set it up outside the case. As shocked as i was i powered it on and it posted no problem and booted into windows without a hitch. the only thing that i could see that was physically damadged was the the armor case.
and from that day on Evga Proved itself to me, and not to mention their great speedy service i have had with em in the past.

that exact same Evga 680i is still currently in use in my other rig and running strong without a hitch.

well i dont owe them but they have proven to be strong in departments i would prefer never to test again. After all how the hell did that board, 4 hard drives, 2 graphics cards, and cpu survive? Did i mention that i had a ginormous zalman 9700 attatched for cpu for cooling and it didnt even dislodge. If i was to guess what might happen in a situation like that i would think that a zalman 9700 would rip a hole in the motherboard where the cpu used to be. but nope, not even a scratch.

What kind of voltages are people giving for a 4.4ghz clock?

    Is 1.375 for 4.05ghz or 1800fsb alright?

I have my memory set to unlinked and it runs 9:8 ratio. It's prime stable but will I be able to go higher like 2000fsb with unlinked memory?

Your really pushing it bro, Some chips cant do the 4.4 stuff, i finally got mine to 4.05GHz, and these E8400 do DEGRADE. Which means that when you push the chip too hard, you wont get your previous settings back. Thats why im leaving mine at 4.05GHz with 1780(QDR) at 9.0x multiplier with Ram at 800MHz with 4-4-4-12 2T. Really i couldnt ask for more. Everything is blazing fast. No point in trying for more.

I agree... I was just wondering if people are running that high 24/7. What do you mean 1780(QDR)? If you mean FSB that would make 4.05... that would make 4005mhz. Very close to 4.05 though. I set mine to 1800mhz... with 1.375 in bios. What voltage are you running?

So you must be running unlinked memory right? Mine is unliked and I have SLI enabled. I wonder if this is best performance. It's either that or link it and run looser timings.

i've run 4.2ghz on my maximus formula. it allows the use of a lower vcore than the 780i's do though. im selling my e8400.

Mine needs alot, but i havent tried to lower it because i havent had heat problems or anything. set the vcore to 1.425 in bios. On idle its 1.39. Underload its 1.37. Its fine, chip doesnt go above 55C so its doing great

What is the max FSB anyone has got on this board?
My max so far with the E8400 is 534 http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=314798

Im looking to get some 1000mhz ram but cant decide on what to buy.
Currently ive tried Corsair XMS2 5-5-5-12 an it t5ops out at about 975

Im currently working on some OCZ 4-4-4-15 platnum but reguires more SPP voltage just for 900mhz than the XMS2.
Any suggestions for some 1066 an higher ram for this board?

There still running. One to my left an one to my right. The 680i actualy volts up just a tad under load an the 780i has just a slight drop. I assume the 680i has more graphite in it than my 780i. I did all 3 spots which I have read cons on doing the one closes to the ram slot. I belive the pencil mod has been around for awhile on other boards such as Asus a couple a years ago when this mod was introduced.

I read so much stuff it ends up spilling out my head lol. Guess thats why I have such a low post count is cause I always find my answer usualy.

got my 780 i yesterday. config in sig. i flashed bios right away to p03. when i could not install vista 64 (blue screens) i googled and found that i should install with only 1 2gb stick installed. which i did (G.Skill pc2 8000 PQ, which is on the compat list), and vista 64 installed ok. but it still blue screens whenever i try to run with 2 sticks. any speed, any vdimm, linked/unlinked, synced/non-synced, any dimm slots, dc or sc. i have tried with all at auto, and default, but with nb voltage set to 1.5v (as spec'd in first post) and vdimm set to 2.3v. it always blue screens at the splash screen. with only one stick, either stick, it runs great. both sticks pass the nvmem test, fast. medium and slow, both sticks pass memtest86. my hardware is fine, i just swapped it out of a dfi lp ut p35. what am i missing here? i really, really dont want to rma this board, i got my first d.o.a. board in 6 years with my last mb (my first lp ut p35) i am hoping this isnt 2 in a row. thanx.
