Hi UnG, well i usually hang out in the amd forums (sad amd fanboy) or the vid card section but kept seeing the folding statistics in peoples sigs. I was led to investigate and thought it was a good idea to lend my spare cpu cycles.

Cirons,
Welcome to the team. ahh, a story close to many hearts around here, I'd guess. Your path to our group is like many, I'd say. We're an odd bunch but I hope you'll hang around and chat with us. We have some eclectic interests and perspectives on computing (and other stuff, too) here.
Welcome to all new folders equally![]()
And do not take me too seriously... I've often humor that I don't understand myself either![]()

Thanks for the welcome, I have a/some quick question(s). I'm using an amd cpu and i followed the window setup guide for services and now have two services running with the added arguments "-local -advmethods -forceasm -verbosity 9" should i change the -forceasm to -forceSSE? How much of an improvement would i see? And does stopping the folding to change values like this effect the current projects that are having work done on them? I also downloaded fahmon to watch the services and both of them are in the green.
Sorry for the noob questions, some of these I have seen touched on but the -forceasm/-forceSSE people that asked about changing usually gave ?amber? as what fahmon was reporting when using -forceasm on their amd processor.

I tried the forcesse thing and I didn't notice a thing so I stick with forceasm
You can change the flags for the services while they are running but they won't take effect until after you restart the services as it only reads those flags at startup.

Yes it is folding right now. Currently at stock it is running about 1800PPD. That will change soon hopefully when I have time from work and class to start overclocking it. Unfortunately my HR-05 doesn't fit the northbridge on my board (hole spacing is too short for the bracket) so I'll have to come up with something to keep the chipset cool.

Thanks. Running the graphical client though. The SMP, oddly enough, wouldnt save work. have to look into that later...
Edit: SMP up and running

ok...
SMP wouldn't save work? Interesting.... Was it dumping work units or restarting them every time the client restarted?

actually, i didnt notice if it was the same wu.
but when closed after any number of steps(well, those i tried),
it would simply start from zero...![]()
and thanks..
I forgot, my PS3 has been folding for a short while. I'll keep it on as much as possible.
