Hi There KTE, Compliments of the season to all. No news on a new BIOS for the MSI? How the system performing under SP3 would you say there is major improvements and worth going back. I know overclocking a person get more points on XP than Vista but what you reckon? And what about XP X64

Here's where to get the latest MSI K9A2 Platinum BIOSes from: http://www.msi-forum.de/thread.php?t...tuser=0&page=6

Move onto the next page and there is a new BIOS release: v1.22

I've not tried it yet but should do by Saturday.

SP3 performs better than SP2, for me it is more stable too. XP 64b is better for K10 than XP 32b. Best wishes to you too!

Thanks KTE. I read the read but see this one has the Errata fix and cannot be turned off in the BIOS. It fixes the Phenom /1066 DDR memory isssue- so that good but the loss of speed due to the fix not good. I heard that with the new AOD the "fix" can be turned off, if so ,where

Swanie, At the top of AOD (tool bar) on the left hand side you will see a circle click on that, the outside of the ring will turn yellow (turbo, but not sure what it does)... Click on it again and the outside of the ring will turn red... I'm pretty sure that disables the TLB patch!!

I don't have a phenom yet, but I have read that that is how AOD disables the patch...

I hope it doesn't have the "fix" hard coded. As for the TLB turn off, I was thinking it is that button as well, but I'm not sure until I try it now.

I have the X2 BE-2300 here. Have to set it all up yet.
Then comes the other AMD CPU. Stock still non-existent for me, prices heavens high and I don't like paying a dime.

They fly to me through my window while I lay to dream.
    Eh?

Yes you should be able to do everything within Windows (AOD). AOD is the main tool you need here. Is your CPU on stock heatsink/fan?

I didn't know. Had I known earlier, I'd have wrote more in the linked post.

Not sure if they're specifying case operating temp or internal core temp both of which can have a delta of ~15℃. You should avoid getting above 55℃ for 24/7 usage though.

    No second board.
By BE I meant X2 BE-2300 that I mentioned earlier. Sorry if you thought it was the Phenom.

The Phenom 9600 BE I'll have tomorrow morning.

    Bios 1.22 Installing

Reading off that German MSI site I gather that this new Bios has the TLB temp fix. Choking the system a bit... 15%

I have a Phenom 9500 running with Bios 1.1 which I believe does not have the TLB fix. Correct???

The system run flawlessly on stock settings. Never a crash. That's running Crysis, Call Of Duty 4, Red Baron3d, Autocad, Battlefront 2, Battlefield2, Winxp64 sp2

So when will this TLB bug bite?? Besides the rough fix patch????? Only when overclocking it seems.

Or maybe some chips are worse then others??

So hopefully this bios will fix more then it may break. My problem remember is i'm STUCK at 1 stick at 1GB. So single channel and 1 tiny GB of ram

So dual channel at 1066mhz and 2gbs might get me back to break even or faster.

Will report back with more info

    Thanks
    Brain

interesting. haven't compared the 2 bios's as far as performance goes. Any suggestion on an app to try?

I just installed 1.22 this morning. Dunno why, really was no reason to, it didn't do anything for me. still can't run my 1066mhz ram @1066.

Anyone know why frequency is grayed out in AOD for memory? I'm guessing the divider isn't changeable on the fly. It's set 1:1 right now. I've got the HT up to something fairly low atm. Last I checked I think my CPU is running around 2.4ghz. HT @ 218 or so. So the ram is running around 436. I know it can go faster than the HT/CPU. just wish I could up it
