P09 gives me constant "CMOS checksum error" can't save anything, but the good news is that i removed one "troublesome" memory stick (micron D9) and left the other 2 OCZ XTC and bumped the cpu a little ;>

nothing special , but i will brake the 4Ghz barrier , only a matter of time.

The BIOS is 1.7 beta 7

I highly recommend to use afud408 to flash the bios, 412 and 418 cause cmos errors, basically they don't destroy it.

Did you guys try out the USB memory stick BIOS flashing by MSI forums? I've been using it all this while and it's great. Everything is automated.

yep, i only use the tool to make a bootable stick , then i cancel the "auto" mode and prefer to flash myself ;] (old school ;f)

must try that method with older flashing tool, i did use the AUFD412 since it common practice to use the latest flash tool with the latest bios (at least that was the fact with ASUS boards ) but i Guess MSI does it different ;]

Today it's going to be a busy day for me ;]

Yes I'm using that, actually I use a usb flash drive ever since.
It's alot more safer than floppy disk, besides, I don't even run a floppy drive for ages.

The BIOS is 1.7 beta 7
    When you hit 4ghz.
I'd luv to see some 3Dm06 cpu scores
    and nuclearus multicore.

Right now I'm using official bios 1.6 I would like to know which bios has the best overclocking on memory? Will bios 1.7 improve memory overclocks and timings? My A-Data Vitesta is supposed to hit 1066Mhz and I can only get 962Mhz.
    i5-3570K 4.6Ghz Xigmatek Gaia Cooler
    Asus P8z77-V LK
    Toshiba 120GB SSD
    Samsung Spinpoint F3's 1TBx2 RAID 0
    Gskill Sniper 8GBx2 1866
    Sapphire HD 7950

is your Vitesta guaranteed by the manufacturer to hit 1066 ? , i didn't find any kind of differences with different bios'es , 1.6 is ok , i'm now on 1.7beta7 and i don't see any difference , some ppl like the 1.1 version , some 1.3 or 1.4
You have to check what version is best for you.

P.S. Xeon booted with 4.0Ghz and 4.3Ghz but either not enough V for cpu or fubar ;F

I'd like to know how that MSIHQ tool works ... for instance where does it get the boot files from, and what about the SureHands option, and how does it know the difference between a beta bios & an official one.

it's just bunch of DOS files, and generic USB Key boot files + the MSI .bat files

there are only a few supported MSI Boards , the tool recongnizes from the BIOS name for example MSI 7345 (P35-Neo2) and since the FR and FIR use the same bios it's all good,

beta bios is named like this A7345IMS.177 (the extension of the file is for version 177 or 176 )

and the official has xxxx.bin extension ;]

good to know ... but I still like to do it myself when it comes to BIOS updates, I stick 3 or 4 BIOS on a CD together with afudos & the boot files, then it's easy to change between them.

    Really depends on the individual...
    Personally, I still like v1.1.
