XP, 1680x1050, high detail, high quality, gamma aa off, lod clamp in driver panel and even in the first couple levels, I find myself thinking I need to lower some settings/res.![]()
Hey, I can not get that "Very High" on DX9 trick to work, im in Vista 64bit. Whenever I try to save the notepad file the guide has you change, it says it cannot save the file, and to make sure the path is correct. The damn path is fine, this is pissing me off.
Im trying to do the first one the guide explains, not the "Cheap Very high"

It may be because you're already on Vista. These tricks are designed to run Dx9 close to dx10 settings (even the cheap very high). Since you're already on dx10. They might not work properly. Why don't you play with your settings in very high and try to turn some of them off while leaving the most efective ones on.
No, you can run DX9 in vista, you just right click the Crysis icon.
I could really use some help on this tonight. If any of the 6 people viewiing this section have anything to say, please do. I cant find anything on this problem.

Try like that:
- Set the in-game settings to high
- Create a file named System.cfg at the root of the Crysis folder.
- Add the variables you want to set in the file system.cfg as they appears in the others .cfg files.

Thats the cheap version. I want the one were I can set everything to very high while running in DX9 mode.
But I did try the cheap version, and I cant make a "Text" file under the crysis directory, I can just make a normal "New folder" there is no option for "New>text document" This is really maddening.

I can run DX10 on high with shaders and post processing (The most relevant DX10 features) on very high and 1600 x 1200 & it runs fine. I can play DX9 on vista easily with all high.
Oh and I found the filefront DX9 very high hack that just comes with all the CFG text files already altered, and you just replace them. Much easier. it worked great.
edit: When I play in DX9 now, with the Filefront "very high in DX9" hack, or workaround, or w/e you want to call it, it locks up my computer after a certain amount of time playing. It runs perfectly, but then will randomly just freeze, and lock up & I will have to restart my computer. Any ideas??

Well, considering that the pixels are the same size on your screen no matter what size they were on his screen, naturally, you will be able to see jaggies... Look at how big the screenshot is... If the resolution and the screen-size scale proportionatly, the jaggies don't get less
Why do you think people playing at high res's still use AA?
