that first one has a hideous heatpipe system.

I detect Epic fail for Asus. I really hope 780i runs cooler then 680i because if not, thems heat pipes gonna heat up dems graphics cards.

The 2nd motherboard, AMDs AM2, Looks like someone shat a heatsink on that thing.

    "New G-SURF365?"

AHH take it away it burns my eyes!!!! ewwww yuckkkkk

(In reference to the new striker) Why on earth cant we go back to neat little COPPER (not copper anodised aluminium) heatsinks with nice little fans that run nice and cool. Why must these companies keep pumping out these stupid heatpipes which any overclocker will rip off before they first boot, and have to put good quality after market heatsinks, or liquid on anyway.

Edit: At a second glance (it hurt) I notice that second board has room for two dimms. Therefore I beleive that is to be a value motherboard for barebone PC's. It also might appear to have on bord GFX, either way, its far from "xtreme" Actually I don't see a VGA port, god knows what that other port is though.

jeez asus... rog board with two ram slots and one pci-e slot? ROCK ON!! seriously, I mean way to completely discredit what was already a marketing gimmick... Anyways, why aren't they listening to the people they're marketing the boards towards when we say we don't want heat pipe lolercoasters? hell, I'd be happy with a motherboard that only has a southbridge cooler, and let us take care of the rest...

That ROG looks like a $30 mobo!

Cheap plastic connector, bull heatsink and VERY little connectivity, the IO ports & spacing looks like a joke.

Looks like ROG Extreme Value not Enthusiast

Se only one reason to go for this board for my part, that is IF it do very well/better than X38 with yorkies(witch i doubt at the moment) D9E also have to take to long time to arrive so i have to get like 8800GTS G92 SLi to game on the "on the wantedlist" 30" WS-screen.
Othervice i just lower my expectations way to mutch if buying this board or even chipset since it is still just a old crappy 680i with added PCIe 2.0 chip and Nehalem is not that to far away and some money must be saved for GOOD 4GB+ DDR3 to.

I for example like the heatpipes. Passive cooling produces much less dust on the motherboard.
I havent seen many ripping them off, heatpipes do their jobs fine.

there are more people who prefer silent and dust-clean motherboards with a bit less overclocking

wtf that G-SURF365 looks fugly. what did they smoke? full-atx mainboard with only three slots? *shakeshead* that's what I'd expect on a mATX mobo...
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

that heatsink on the Striker II Formula is pretty large.. the heat output must be quite big on that chipset.

Striker II Formula listed for 268,90 @ Germany (http://www.hpm-computer.de/product_i...-Formula.html).
Bit expensive if you ask me but, if it supports Yorkfield + SLI and is a reliable board like the current Striker it´ll be my next board probably. Hope there will be some reviews and some more good 780i boards till January.
