These cards look so tempting considering I am still using a 7900GT LOL.

yo I agree too. I'm on a 7900gs on steroids and it's way more than I need as it is. Really would like to upgrade but only playing cs and cs:s, there's just no need. 700/800/60 on a 7900gs and it still kicks hard

why is it that the shader clock above 1700MHz results in a freeze during 3dmark05? my GPU and MEM clocks were ok. for example 700/1750/1800 is not 3dmark05-stable.

I am at 700/1750/1000(2000) right now. I could easily go further but the fan right now is at 70% duty cycle, anything over that is too loud to bear with and I like to keep temps under 85.

Has anyone tried one of these cards with an aftermarket cooler on it yet?
Currently running an ES Black Ops with a Qx9650 under SS, and a variety of Crossfire combos, and a Biostar Tpower i45 with an E8500 (air) and a variety of Crossfire combos. Both with 2x1gb of Ballistix (DDR2/3 PC2/3 8500) FSP 350w/ Galaxy DXX 1000w PSU's.

yeah it keeps reallllll cool. people run with mcw60's and get the same temps i get with my 7900. real beneficial to overclocking a lot more.

i haven't seen anyone voltmod yet but i bet it'd take to it extreeeemely well especially given the low temps with water cooling

Im using a Zalman VF900 on it right now, its not a whole lot better than the stock cooler on idle but a hell of alot better on load:

    ~~Stock Fan @ 90%~~
    Idle: 52c*
    Load: 73c*

    ~~VF900 Default~~
    Idle: 44c*
    Load: 59c*

Hello, I'm Spanish, sorry by my bad English.

I recently bought a XFX GeForce 8800 GT normal, with a Zalman VF1000. With Zalman and without it when I overclock up to 950MHz (memory) in Pro evolution soccer 2008 when I am playing a bit, I get strange red fog and the systems stop. Temps never ups 55ºC.

I can do 710/1775/1900 and its not a bad overclock but I think I have a problem with memory overlock above 1900

It's strange that in other games like Crysis, this issue not exist for example in memory at 1950.

    Can you help me ?

Can you run the GPU test from Crysis at 725/1757/975 and then at your top OC speed. I want to see what kind of difference this is making....impressive speeds btw.

Stock eVGA vanilla version, though stock clocks were 650/1625/950 for some reason.

ATITool stable at 738/1728/972 so far.. if I raise Shader up one more step, it jumps up to 1782 and has huge yellow artifacts in ATITool, even though ATITool doesn't actually detect them. Same with Core, if I bump it up to 740, I see ocassionally a tiny yellow dot appear, but ATITool again does not detect them as artifacts.

Temp maxes out at ~91 degrees celsius, with Fan again at stock speeds and not noticeable over my system's normal noise (in a P182 case). Nice and quiet compared to my previous 2900 Pro.

Not bad overall considering I paid $199 CAD due to Future Shop's price error.

your fan is working at 29%.....increase the speed a bit cause 91C are too much....and possibly your core will go higher with better temps..

Any of you guys heard something that nVidia might recall 8800GT-s due some mysterious (yet unrevieled, maybe heat-) issues?
Asus and Leadtek might admitted it unofficially to distributors.
    Any info will be appreciated.

I increased the automatic cycle a bit in RivaTuner, it cuts in more aggressively lowering it down to 85C, though it's starting to get audible at that point.

I think I'd rather have sacrifice the 1-2% more FPS I might squeeze out of the overclock for not hearing the whine of the fan.

BTW, tested Crysis GPU Bench at stock 650/1625/950:
    Avg. FPS: 35

    OCed at 738/1728/972:
    Avg. FPS: 38

This is at 1280x1024, High settings for everything, no AA/AF. So about an ~8% improvement from a 13% Core OC and a 6% Shader OC. I think I might just leave ram at stock to maximize timings.

That 877/1000/2214 clock is incredible!! Is that a hardwired volt-mod or a BIOS tweak?? My car will arrive tommorrow, so im keen to find out how to maximise any unockable potential it may have.

Vista. My system is pretty much same as yours except I run my Opteron 165 at 2.7 Ghz. I'm guessing your on XP?
