    Dfi Ut X38

Mid novemeber on the DFI UT X38 T2R is anyone excited

I just ordered the Asus Maximus X38 and will be very curious which one peforms best.

Right now I have the DFI UT P35 T2R and the Asus P5K and P5K3 so I thought WTH.

The DFI looks to be a very interesting board.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Gents,

I am pro musician with extravagent needs.

Looks like I'm in the right place.

I have been using stable sytems w/ stock Intel boards for years, and have been warned over, and over........do not OC you DAW.

Well, I saw first hand what benefits can be achieved a couple of weeks ago by a friend who is an extreme OC'r / gamer.

I was concerned about my 45 DSP's that reside on the 32bit PCI slots. So that is where my dilemma lies.

I was proven on a DFI 975 board that one could tweak the other busses and leave that buss alone. The apps I use will be extracting audio from ny HDD arrays, so it looks safe to me.

The CPU and memory really benefit from the amount of Virtual instruments I can load, and the host app, Gigastudio 4 will spawn multiple threads to feed these instruments. So I am going to follow advice on tweaking my purchase here.

You guys are deep and I feel as though this is the place.

I await the QX9650, and the DFI X38 T2R. My reason for this choice is that my apps benefit from lower latency RAM.

    I await their release feverishly.

    w00t! Looks great!

Any word on the cooling solution? Same as the p35 t2r, or even more crazy since x38 requires a heatspreader?

Reading the specs, it says that it has dual Gigabit LAN, but on the back panel port list, it lists 1x RJ45.

    Hi Scope! Welcome to XS!

A word of warning; typically DFI boards and launch have lots of bugs. Be sure to wait and make sure that this board ships with a stable bios before you jump on the wagon.

Maybe you could get something with more than one pci bus, eg a server board.

it says that it has a header for it

and it says 1 "4x1-pin FAN connector for CPU, 2 3x1-pin FAN for Chipset, and 3 for" so thats telling me that they could have a 2 fan active mb cooling situation

As with everything nothing is for sure until the board is available retail. But right now there are two RJ45 ports at the rear of the board. One above each set of USB ports.

What is trying to be implied is the fan connector for the CPU is capable of speed control by PWM only. Two of the 3 pin connectors are capable of controlling fan speed by conventional means and three additional fan headers supply 12V constantly.

I don't think this holds as true as it once did.

After watching everybody drop the ball with nforce 6, nad some of the current x38 fiasco I don't think DFI is as buggy now.

Plus, DFI works their ass off to update the BIOS and I've seen their guru's post on several forums.

    too much $$$..

Why cant DFI release a product that will actually sell in volume? Most just want a solid board that is affordable.

That thing costs more than most of the cpu's being used today.

the infinity line is the value line. comparing there prices to others they are not bad. the lan-party line is similar in price to the high end asus boards. the infinity's are about half the price of the lan-party.

Affordable not so much, but at least they are built right and take the overclocking abuse afflicted on them and they are a premium quality product and not a huge mobo company like ASUS , MSI, GIGABYTE etc, etc so that needs to be taken into consideration in terms of cost to produce.
