certainly not x86, amds licence gets terminated if its bought.

And im sure intel will put a hefty pricetag on a new licence, so everyone is gona think twice befor jumping into the x86 market when amd is gone.

For myself, i think this is pure fud...

amd wont die that easy and is not going to be bought/sold... but we'll see.
interestingly i think the x86 market will die if amd gets out of the game. it would be in intel's best interests to let IBM keep the liscense. Why? Because without it intel would be taken down for antitrust issues.

Why do people keep talking about IBM? The last thing IBM want is joining a competition like this. They do not want to manufactor. They want to supply services and support.

To join this competition would just be puring money into a deep black hole.

I agree. I was basing my post on the previous poster's comment. I was not commenting on how likely it is for IBM to buy AMD... I agre with you; and i won't bring it up again.

no surprise here with AMD - everyone new it was going to be a softlaunch with tight supply afterwards.
However I don't understand how Intel can disappoint their customers that much with Tigerton, it don't see any reason for shipping problems with Tigerton. It's not that much of a redesign of conroe.. It's just the chipset. So that's more of a surprise.

Tigerton was definitely a soft-launch attempt to steal the show. But it failed in that light. The LV Tigerton being top bins are far harder top produce than any desktop part.
