If you are getting a pseudo error message during POST, this likely indicates the controller is having trouble recognizing the drive. Of course, it could also mean the controller itself is borked.

Hate to suggest this, but, have you loaded bios defaults? I know, you'll be at the ICKY stock speed, but you can always re-clock.....

Edit: Further thought. I'm suggesting unrelated things can get borked when reaching for the 4 gig stars, weird stuff happens...This ain't server grade stuff....

    Jeez, bite your tongue, Bob!

I had a problem with a P5B Deluxe and this issue. After a lot of messing with it. I gave up. I got a SATA optical drive for it, and left the IDE drive to a diff system that didn't have such problems.

nope , nothing received yet . next week hopefully.
Today i noticed the 4 pin connector on my motherboard is burned (a little black) and the 4pin psu plug is burned too. Smell of melting plastic ... Everything' s still working , but i don't trust it - it coould breakdown every moment
Looks like this motherboard (Gigabyte P965 DS3) is not good enough for high vcore. I was running 1.53Vcore (in bios) , this seems to be too much 24/7 for a 4-pin connector . Am now running 370x9 @ 1.45vcore to keep it save.

Learned something today: For high vcore ( > 1.5v) ,better get a motherboard and psu with an 8 pin connector.

I have another 4-pin psu plug , so that's no problem. It looks horrible , i'm amazed it still works ...
Don't know if it's possible to change the connector on the motherboard?
    Did someone tried that?
I know it's possible to solder the wires directly to the motherboard , but i'd rather not do that.
I'm considering RMA'ing the board , but that would mean extra downtime

Well if you're house catches on "Fire" I would think you would be looking at some serious down time.
