Costa Rica C2D Results

I just got in 6 E6600's and all are 3718A117 which are Costa Rica made. Just for fun i removed my L627A and popped it in to give it a try. So far the Costa Rica chip runs a good 7C or more cooler at idle and load. Overclocks are looking pretty similar to my Malaysian chip though. 3.4-3.5Ghz easy at around 1.4-1.42v, and then to get 3.6Ghz i have to bump it up to 1.48v or so. Under water the Costa Rica chip is amazingly cool though loading with Orthos at 43C with a fresh application of MX1.

Id love to here of others results with the Costa Rica chips or if anyone has any direct comparison to Malaysia or Phillipines chips

That was allready possible back in the P2/3 era of I'm not mistaken, though it's indeed the first Costa Rica C2D I've seen so far.

ok, ill take some pics for you guys. So far it runs a good 8-10C cooler than my Malaysian chip and OCes exactly the same.

I couldn't get my L640 malay batch over 3.4GHz @ 1.60vcore - running a water setup loading to 43c.

I now have a processor that was a few behind yours on the assembly line - 3718a201 and the box is unopened... but if you get good results, I might open it and (essentially) be unable to return it.

This is what Ive got so far. I had it running Orthos for about five hours yesterday at 3.2ghz 1.35v and I stopped it to step the speed. The room is air conditioned, Ive got a tuniq tower. Yesterday my highest temp was 40C. AS you can see from the picture, Im still testing.






*Edit* Well I got an error a little after an hour at 3.3ghz. Im going to have to step up the voltage but Im confident I can take it higher.

it should do 3.4Ghz with ease with 1.4v.

The first time I got an error was due to some untested RAM timings. I got a rounding error maybe 4 hours in and now Im testing with more voltage.

It doesnt seem like these chips made in Costa Rica are very common among overclockers but hopefully we can get more info. I cant really find any other info about them on the internet. I was happy to find a thread devoted to them.

They used to be common in P4s them and the Philippines but I have not seen many people post about them in C2Ds...

I got a Costa rica E6600 from NCIX

I got mine from newegg about two weeks ago.

all 6 of them that i got from Newegg run amazingly cool under just the intel cooler with some Arctic Silver 5. 22-25C idle is what is reported although i dunno how accurate that is, but the Malaysian chip i had idled close to 40C under watercooling...

Mine was the same as well. I was very surprised and because I really didnt know much about the C2D when I got it I was convinced the temp sensor was broken.
