TheInquirer author backpedals on 2.9GHz Barc claim

    Remember this?

    http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39440

    Now he says this:

    http://www.aceshardware.com/forums/r...3031&forumid=1

Barcelona has multiple problems. B0 was that good, but it simply unmasked other problems. Power use is still low enough to allow for 2.9GHz like I said, and B0 was that good in this regard.

    -Charlie

Course, that wasn't what he said in the first story.

So, he's in reverse, trying to save face...

I think he was had by his sources for the first story.

    It is funny.

One moment they are practically calling death on the street for AMD, it seems, (or at least they make it seem to me) and now it's - "Oh, Barcelona is ok, it just has a few bugs in it just like in every other processor that has been in development and it will be sorted out in due time."

Give me a break. The INQ doesn't know what it is talking about. And now that they have stories out for both sides of the argument (AMD will be fine / AMD will die) - anyone can go back and point to the article where they were right and talk about how "Well, at least the INQ was right on this story"! (LOL). They should change the heading of the INQ from "News, Reviews, Facts & Friction" to "News, Rumors, Fiction & Friction".

Honestly, no one knows anyting! That's the way AMD does it. Until we see benchmarks from a reliable member of XS then I'm not buying into any Barcelona/Phenom information period.

But hey, I can't be that hard on the INQ, I mean...at least they are good for a laugh.

If you didn't believe his junk before, I don't know why you're inclined to post whatever he's written in his free time as if it was 100% fact.

theinq is far from a reputable hardware site.
yeah at times their bits turn out to be true but far more often they turn out to be completely fantasized.

like come one if i spit out enough crap something is bound to come out.

its like at times TheInq has articles and as source they link to another article on theinq.

TheInq and fudzilla should be prohibited in the news section, and lead to banishment of the one posting

I don't know about completely booting someone, but I agree that it should not be alloud considering all of the crap it stirs up with people.

Its called speculation and its all over the place weather its in a thread here or its on a news board its just more to talk about. Live with it. As said many times in the past in many threads, if you don't like the source don't post about it, let the staff determine what is news and belongs in this section.

From all the "crap" that has been spread this is what I gather.
    1) Barcelona will be good, but not atm.
    2) Too many silicon bugs.
    3) Not high enough mhz.
    4) They "pray" for the special sauce so to speak, that will allow higher speeds, and for bugs/bios revisions to compete.

I hope they make it. But atm, my next upgrade will be Intel/Nvidia...

It's kinda nice that some days the INQ can come up with ten stories when other news sites can't even drudge up one.
