wow, just wow, their timing seems to be just great. whenever there are barcelona numbers intel shows how much better they are.
at least their merkating is up to the task and much better than AMD's

i hope they can deliver (high clocks 3,3ghz+ and ~10% average ipc improvement), otherwise penryn may get its ass spanked as soon as barcelona clocks in at 2,6ghz (edit: maybe something like 2.8+) or higher..

AMD needs to fire back and do the same benchmark to prove Intel wrong.

AMD needs to step up. Now's the time to do it but they won't. Buncha pansies is what they are.

They got a Barcelona system, Give us the damn specs on the machine and run the test and lets us draw our conclusion.

The article mentions that Barcelona got around 16-17K, but we have no Idea at what clocks and what specs the machine was.

If AMD doesn't speak soon, it would be REALLY bad.

It is now very clear, we have a two tier CPU market for the foreseeable future.

AMD can still do very well depending on how they position themselves in the market. It's like watching F1 and NASCAR races, putting them in the same events wouldn't make sense either.

    That is one BEAUTIFULL system.
    MUST ----HAVE----ONE!

Why oh why did Amd even alow DT to even get close to their system if it was half-baked chip one could ask himself. What's wrong in their heads.

On the other hand here we see Intel all smiles and all. Such a great chip, and eye-watering benchmark results.... DAMN... O_O

    Could very well be true!

Maybe they can position themselves in 2core market more aggresively, and work on some new tech to swing themselves back.

That is unless they pull a white rabbit out of their next waffer spin or the K10 benched on DT was crippled somehow!

Now I read that Cinebench 10 in its beta version doesn't even use SSe4 O_O

Francois stressed the chip run much cooler than the previous generation.

clock for clock, the penryn seems to be about 8% faster at that application than the qx6800.

    If a 2GHz AMD systems scores 16k , they need a 3+GHz K10 to match a V8 with 2 3.33GHz Harpertowns.I don't see that in the near future.

Is this V8 still limited to 1 GPU? I know V8 is a media creation workstation but they seem to be comparing it to QuadFX in various "reviews".

16GB *drools* I'm still on 4GB and only working with several apps open at once am I filling that

Indeed, its very hard not to become an Intel fanboy in this era, also very hard to avoid becoming one, at the risk of being accused of being a fanboy of the other side.

Great to see they have silicon for this already...good stuff Fugger

I like amd myself...but you have NO idea how many times I've looked at that E6320 and almost pulled the trigger...the processing power is just too tempting at times X(

Wait a minute, that's not too impressive for Penryn... Considering....

    Core 2 Extreme QX6800 runs at 2.93Ghz

and the Penryn(Quad) is running at 3.33Ghz

If the Penryn was running at the same speed as the QX6800 or vice versa
and they got the same scores as currently posted, then yeah I'd get real excited, but..c'mon it's running at a clock speed advantage already!
