Thnx@CedricFP, that's making me feel better.
I am used to the temps of my singlecore amd a64, and so this c2d temperatures were disconcerting for me.
Maybe i'll try to remount the cooler later, too.

EDIT: my speedfan cpu-temp ist lower then the temps of the two cores, it's 51, first core 55, second two degrees cooler, too.

A lap would not hurt as well if you can afford it.

I am using a MCR220 (dual) rad and these are my temps at various frequencies:

    3.4 GHZ (1.325v) : 44 idle 58 load, ambient 35-39
    3.6 GHZ (1.400v) : 45 idle 61 load, ambient 36-39
    3.8 GHZ (1.460v) : 45 idle 63 load, ambient 39

(All centigrade), so I'd say your temps are within bounds. I use Speedfan to look at my temps. Core 2 ALWAYS = CPU temp, for some reason, and CORE 1 is always 2 degrees cooler than CORE 2.

I too had a problem with mounting an Apogee GT - vertically, it wouldn't fit because of the mofset sinks, and so I had to mount horizontally, even then, the block is pushing quite hard against the mofset sinks on the left of the socket.
    OMFG your ambient is 36-39C!!!!

BTW damn sweet chip....I got a L629F and looks to need 1.4v for 3600 but 3800 needs probably 1.55-1.6v range

Yeah, well that is ambient case temp. Ambient room temp is around 33 degrees (and summer isn't even really here yet... not the full blast anyways. That's the subtropics for you, 35 degree in 95% humidity = puddles of sweat per step in the sun.) But those temps are read from Speedfan and I'm not sure how accurate the sensors are, seeing as speedfan reads my CPU at 63 load but core 1 and core 2 both don't get above 60 (again, according to Speedfan). Not sure if they are out of whack or not, but everything is stable so I am choosing not to worry, thanks to the advice from dinos22.

I also think that 1.4 is overkill for 3600 - I might be able to take it down to 1.375. In fact, after my current priming hits the 10 hr mark, I am going to do just that.

The chip is nice, L627B - dry-ice bench runs done at 4.9 GHZ (not by me... heh, condensation kills many hopes at sub-zero cooling here in high-humidity-hk), and I expect max benchable on water to be around 4.1/4.2 GHZ.

Got a nice 27B E66, stable at 3.8 @ 1.46v. Too bad my RAM craps out at about 500 FSB (was running 4:5 fine until 400 FSB bios) so I've had to take it down to 1:1 - at least I can tighten the timings. It's 10th Anny ram as well, so D9GMH...

I am still having the problem of the bios reading the multiplier as 10, not 9 though. In the bios screen, it says I am running at 4000MHZ when really I'm running at 3600... a curious error. Has anybody else had a similar experience?
There's a bug in the BIOS. The C1E setting is ignored and is always enabled. You can disable it after booting using RMClock or Everest.

Strange about the multiplier. What does cpuz, everest or rmclock say?

im not familiar with this mobo overclock settings.

    i have an e6300 with ddr2-533mhz

lets say i want to TRY 333FSB.
that should push ram to 666mhz, it should handle it.
    i have a thermalright cooler.

just need to know the simplest way to pop it up to 333fsb with everything synchronised with it, then reset and see if its stable without having to pull jumpers and all that bull.

    anyone?

Flash bios to another version. It will corect this.

I had the same issue when tested my BX2 with QX6700. I've used 11x, and when I came back to E66, the bug was there.

Ok, I just got Everest Ultimate Edition. I can see where I can set Everest to start when Windows restarts but where do you disable the C1E and the EIST. I am using Vista Pro.

    Thanks.

Right click on bar where it says copyright and click CPU tweakings and disable from there. It only does C1E though.

Is that then permanently disabled or just until next reboot?

Just until next reboot. Another user posted a driver that will automatically disable it on every reboot. Search back in the thread for it.

I have this bios too. Few days later Intel released bios 2747. The version that you have contain some bugs with ECC memory, and bios 2747 is better overclocker.

Hmm. Maybe I should consider updating the BIOS on my Bad Axe 2 when it gets here. Except I've never done it before and am afraid. Anyway, my question. Will I be able to control the fan speed of my cpu heatsink fans with the mobo or is the only option a fan controller? I looked at Speedfan and this mobo isn't listed as being supported.

go to Intel downlaod and use the .iso image..burn with Nero or a similar program...place the cd in the optical drive and use it to update the bios....works great

I have a Swiftech 159-CU on my NB..I used the NB fan header but this ran the fan at like 100% or something and it was so loud..I reconnectied to another fan header and it run fine but much quiter

Really. Hm. I recall that the 100% proof way was using a floppy. Will this mobo take a USB flash drive as well? Actually no, the burning to a cd seems easier. Excuse this noob question again, but it's ok to just.. 'overwrite' BIOS right?
