E4300 ,air cooling, Q644 stepping

I'm curious though, can you remove the sock protector but leave the "frame" that fits into the notches on the CPU so it doesn't move around?

I really wanna pop the top off my E4300, but I won't do it until I get a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, as I don't dare apply the necessary preasure to install the stock cooler with no IHS.

I dunno, if the "frame" of the socket can be left so that it holds the CPU in place then things should work out, and I won't worry about it.

Could you please post pics of the mobo/socket with the naked CPU installed?

EDIT: Seems some newer chips are doing well to, mine's a SL9TB week Q702A472 and hits 3.2GHz @ 1.312v under load and is perfectly stable.

I will post pics if I have the time. But you have to remove the frame thingy that holds the cpu, or else the cooler won't hit the core. Still there is a metal thing that is in the way. But will post pics soon as possible. Busy week

you might want to try mounting the Ultra Extreme before you lap it. part of youre problem may be weak mounting pressure that would be solved by the backing plate.

I don't why ocing my evga 8800,the performance win up to only 1000 points more,of course evga 8800 have Arctic silver 5 and have 39 º celsius in idle,but if i don't see more performance ocing, don't understand why can't be better

Very nice, but what is the actual vcore...I'm guessing over 1.400v as that's normally about where CPU-Z craps out on the monitoring.

yeap actual vcore are 1,450vcore,the lapping was good the temp down -5 º celsius,and now in 24/7 3.0 ghz i only use 1.30 vcore with 31 celsius in idle

Nice...really makes me appreciate my chip though...does 3.1GHz /w 1.296v load 24/7 stable and with my 17-18 degree room temps I idle well below 30C.

Have you been able to cross 3.5 Ghz?

I need 1.42-1.44 real vCore to get 3.5 Ghz stable on my Q644A..

I just cant get 3.6 Ghz to boot even. Its really irritating . Even tried upto
1.54 real vCore. Have you had any luck?

This was on my WC'ing. Right now on Stock, So running 2.93 Ghz ie. 333x9, 24/7 @ 1.32vCore. 25C Idle, 47-50C Load. (Ambients 25-32C) Yes, India is hot .

goldenfrag, if you're talking to me...no, I haven't.

My chipset is running ridiculously hot due to the OC/chipset voltage needed and non-flat passive heatsink from DFI, so as soon as I get an HR-05 on this thing with a decent fan I'll be good for more stock cooling OCing.

I think that is the place and week code if I am not mistaken, is Q Malaysia and 44 means Week 44.

I have my IHS also removed. I use watercooling, but because of metal clips that are in the way. I have to use a copper plate, because of this my temps suck with watercooling. I just set the cooling on it. It wil hold the cpu. This weekend I will try the boxed cooler, the base is smaller so I should not need te copper plate. Will post results then

Right now my temps are 50 under load in speedfan and 61 under load in TAT. (Load means, orthos ) This is with 1.365Vcore and 3.2Ghz. With IHS temps were 72 TAT and 64 Speedfan.
