At least give them the chance to show you what they are going to do before you condemn them out of hand!
Yea, agreed on that one! My honest opinion is that they are both fantastic company's and both stand behind their products and the entheusiast 100% so in my opinion the merg is golden in my eyes and I look forward to see whats up and comeing.

    From the press release:

"Look for all of OCZ Technology Group's current and future products in its worldwide network of distributors, e-tailers, and retail stores."

It would be nice to be able to walk into Fry's and see the PCP&C units right next to the Silverstones. I use a Silverstone for my bench fun but my 3 game rigs all have OCZ. The 700s have never given me any grief and the 520s refuse to die.

Well, since Fry's is one of PCP&C's two retail outlets, the other is MicroCenter (but their selection is smaller than Fry's), you should be already able to walk into one and pick up one of PCP&C's power supplies....but your selection is rather limited, this is true. The two Atlanta Fry's do already stock, on their shelves, the Silencer 610 and 750 Quad, and the TurboCool 1KW power supplies.

And if your local Fry's doesn't stock them, you can easily go onto Fry's website and order them there.

So, I suppose PCP&C will still source their power supplies from Seasonic and Win-Tact, then, since the Silencers are currrently built by Seasonic and the Turbo-Cools are built by Win-Tact.
don't forget the PXS1000W by 3Y also which IMO is the match of ANY of the high end supplies out there.Tests have shown us we really underated this PSU and the build quality is nothing short of stunning for the price. The ONLY issue for me personally was the lack of a power switch but that was due to the lack of room with the true ATX format and stacked cores.
A friend of mine destroyed 2 1200W coolermasters running 2900's in under 30mins each and he has not even stressed out the PXS he says testing with the same hardware.

For now nothing changes with product lines, we will re evaluate the lines soon though and improvements will be made...and yes quality will NOT go down only up and distribution will improve for the PCP&C product.
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

    So Tony,

What do you recommend for 2x 8800GTX (vmodded and overclocked), E6600 overclocked, a couple hardrives and the basic components?
    It has to silent.

I think Tony made a good point in the above post. OCZ bought PCP&P for it's strengths, reputation and quality. We also have the distribution channels to make their products available internationally. We absolutey do not want ro diminish quality or the brand in any way.

We understand that this change may hard for some of you to deal with. Any number of companies could have bought PCP&C and I personally think that think OCZ was a good match. We understand what makes PCP&C the top choice for quality and reliabilty.

I think I will need some PCP&C "samples" for testing soon.

on the PSU matter, if silence is my target, I just buy what I really want, a good PSU no matter how loud it is, and then...mod it to reduce the noise

Exactly. And really, depends on the Micro Center. I've been in Micro Centers where PCPO&C get entire end caps.

I agree. The 600W ProXStream I reviewed was rock solid. Albeit a little loud. Too bad I don't get to review any more OCZ power supplies. I'd really like to see what that 1kW can do.

We've done that with a 1k PSU for this rig. The thing is still to loud, any less air flow and who knows how long the PSU will last.

    Come on, I know you're a capable modder ( and benchmarker ).
Measure the amb. temp inside the PSU and the temp of critical components inside the PSU with a good IR Temp meter, and check what you can do with the silent fans, etc

btw, how silent do you want to make the system ?

It's more just warnings of what could happen (and unfortunately i too believe OCZ is a corp like others that is driven for higher profits and margins, it's normal, but all like to hope it won't effect actual products) and it's normal for this kind of talk to go on when a merger/buyout occurs (when 1 is involved in the same/similar industry)

Go with a Silencer 750-850w from PCP&C or a 700w Seasonic M12 (modular). Both will give the power you need quite easily and be quiet.

Figures there'd be better MicroCenters than the two in Atlanta. I have been to one other.....in VA, Vienna I believe. But only got to spend about a half-hour in it....and it was a lot larger than the ATL stores.

Can only expect that, though. The VA store serves the entire No. VA/Metro DC area.....

I do remember the VA MicroCenter motherboard section was lots larger than either Atlanta area Fry's mb section is, though.
