No problems with r/w errors on any BIOS that I remember.

I didn't do anything special with Fedora. Sound just showed up.

Also for Linux, there's a Marvell driver in the works that I'm testing, and I wrote the sensor chip driver for the board. Let me know if you need them. You'll need to be able to recompile your kernel though.

    PCI-E 16x becomes 8x

I just bought an XFX 8800GTS 640M, installed it in the middle PCI-E slot.
CPU-Z shows it's only working on the 8x mode. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I change it to 16x

Also, I installed WinXP Pro without installing the SATA drivers that come with the board. Is it possible to install them afterwards, or is it unnecessary? Sound didn't work on WinXP Pro either until I installed the drivers.

You have to put it in the first slot to get x16.

I just placed the card into the first PCI-E slot (the one closest to CPU), now it's showing 16x. However, I want to use the second one for my video card because I am using a fan on the first Slot to cool the back PCB of the video card (8800 GTS is really hot).
    Any suggestions?

Are you talkiing the Intel controller or marvell? It's not necessary to install the SATA drivers unless you want the RAID functionality. If it's your boot drive it's hit or miss as to whether you can change after you've installed Windows.

XP definitely needs the audio drivers.

No way around it. Only the first slot is x16.

Thank you. I guess I'll have to sacrifice a little performance for the lower temperature.

This is my first intel mobo and I gotta say that compared to, lets say ASUS, these bios updates does indeed come fast. Rather nice experience, even if all the "bugs" doesn't get sorted.

    Damn this board is stable.

Darn. Third ram slot killed another stick of memory. Second one so far and both in that infamous third slot. Thank God that the Team Xtreem have a lifetime warranty.

But the overall performace is better? P5K clocks ram like crazy, but is better than BX2 ram @ 422 3-3-3-4?

Trust me, leave 2333. I have it before, and compared to 2692, I love 2692. And now, 2747 is the best for me so far. Before I cant get 4hours or Orthos with this settings, now:

Look at those voltages. I stopped it at 6hrs, but I think it would go much more. More test coming

    WOW man! 3.3 with 1.19V

Did you tried to get over 3.7 with this new bios? Intel did good work on that

    EDIT:

Anyone running 4:5 over 400FSB? Its impossible to me...orthos scream after 1 second

Yeah, this L628B is amazing. With the famous 2333 I could run 1h of Orthos at 1,39v 3700Mhz, I will try with 2747 in a few days
