For anyone who hasn't seen this (cheap 4.3ns ram)

I put this in overclocking because I wanted to discuss the ram, not the deal. The deal is basically pay 89.99 out the door and get that down to 57.99 after rebates. $58 is damn good IMO for 512mb of Hynix 4.3ns ram. This doesn't apply to our forieng members (IIRC members in the USA may even be a minority here !) since this is at circuit city B&M.

Opinions? I bought a stick and im priming at 200 7-3-3-2.5 (had a cpu problem and im just now starting to OC again) but others are claiming up to 240 8-4-4-3 at stock voltages. Wasn't there some deal where hynix ram was severly taxed if imported? And how in the world is this turning up on budget pc2700?

Anyone else have experience with these chips? The markings are:
    Hynix 329A
    HY5DU56822AT - D43

How did you tell that they used Hynix chips without opening the box? AFAIK the Kingston ValueRam boxes only have a little window on the front of the packaging to display the Kingston sticker on the first chip on the DIMM- and none of the other chips are visible.

new packaging? I work at BestBuy so I could snag two modules for pretty cheap w/ employee discount.

^ There is a little window where you can see three of the chips

Some people on a couple other forums are doubting that this is 4.3ns, a few people are getting poor results I guess it's a gamble but a small one if you buy from somewhere like circuit city that has a no hassle return policy. Still over 200mhz from all the reports that I've heard, but nothing great except one guy claiming 240 and a couple saying 220's IIRC. In my book any 512mb stick that can do 200mhz+ for this price is worth it.

Nice. Gonna check out what we have at my store tomorrow. I'll horde the Hynix if we have any (our RAM stock usually blows though, best things I have found was a stick of VData PC2700 that has done DDR400, sold as RK-Byte RAM, havnt tested any higher, and it won't go high at all unless its got extremely slack timings).

The Hynix isn't going to do that well on AMD boards- the stuff needs very loose timings. For instance, look at the guys using the AData PC4000- I havn't seen anyone hit 250Mhz with it, whereas on the Intel side its pretty easy for the stuff to do 300Mhz with a little voltage. More of a motherboard limitation?

A in the markings is 2nd generation hynix d43 good for say 240ish you need to find B 3rd generation D43 like mine at http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/sho...=&threadid=774 hynix pc3200 does 250mhz easy at 2.6-2.7v

CC has two sticks left, along with a handful of VData 256MB PC2700. Going to check all the VDatas to see if any carry the good overclockers.

    Should I get 2x512MB Kingston/Hynix or 2x256MB VData?

I have had seen several people with VERY big problems with kingston value ram.
Sticks that will barely run 200fsb stable let alone overclock.

To be avoided unless you know exactly what your getting IMHO.
