Whoa, thanks for posting, I was just going to buy an Opteron 1214. I think I may just get a Sempron 2800+ to tide me over

EDIT: come to think of it, instead of blowing $50 on a Sempron, I'll spend the $95 for a X2 3600+ Brisbane - I can at least sell off the Brisbane for $50 when K10 comes out, skip over the April price cuts, be out less $ and have way better performance throughout the entire time!

Or I could just get the 1214 for $238 now (same as 6000+ later) and easily overclock it to 3.1-3.3, instead of the 6000+ 3.3-3.5.... argh, decisions decisions!

Don't get me started on ECS or SiS for that matter.

what kinda sucks though, is that the 6000 is gonna compete with the 6600 on price, which still puts it at a large disadvantage, when considering overclocking. stock performance, they trade blows, but even with a moderate oc its no contest. intel really has amd by the balls with the conroes...

Yeah, just that these are € instead of $, and net prices - add VAT, import tax,
sales tax, profit margin, eu tax, politician tax, computer tax, life tax. So in short, multiply them by two and you should be close...

    So sad it's almost funny...

What's the date on the price cuts? Early April? April 30? I'm seriously looking at getting a 3600+ Brisbane because my mom's P4 1.5Ghz Willamette isn't cutting it for her e-mail anymore.

Those are the Intel price cut dates. Going by the 2nd link, AMD cut is to come April9th. Anyway, buy the X2 3600+ Brisbane now - it'll only be $20 cheaper in 3 weeks to a month. It's not like buying a 6000+ now and then it's 50% off. $20 to enjoy a much faster PC for a month, that's nothing!
