EDIT: I'm confused. This is take from the anandtech article on QuadGT. "The current BIOS allows you to stay in the 1067 strap up to the 525FSB ceiling with our E6300 and E6400 chips, and this allows for some incredible memory and system performance at the higher FSB settings. Our E6600 has hit 7x550FSB in initial testing at this time." If the ceiling is 525, how did they get a 6600 to 550mhz?

upping the clocks after windows boot. It wasn't stable past 525 though.

I dont see a point in searching for max FSB or maxing out my ram, 525 fsb is a nice limit, i can deal with that. i want max performance. I cant run 4:5 at 500+ fsb so i am putting my ram at best settings for this speed. this board has same 4-4-4>3-3-3 bug of P5B due to subtimings so the timings i am running are the fastest for this particular speed. Anything else you want me to do?

Thanks anyway, I was just hoping to see 500mhz fsb and 4:5 for 625mhz memory. That is my goal, I just need to find a board that will do it reliably and let me use RAID.

got better results on aquamark @ 501x7(3.5) than 401x9 (3.6) guess the high fsb play the key here , bbut lowered my results on super pi 1m

    and a 515x7

Well let me save you some time, no board will do this, not even with cherry ram.

Edit - well RD600 might do it with its async ram clocking but performance would be worse then what i can get on the quad GT.

    New Beta BIOS - B06A

    1. Quad Core and Vista64 Issues resolved.
    2. RAID/IDE issues almost resolved, Intel ICH8R + RAID mode with Intel ICH8R + SATA optical drive is the only issue not resolved now.
    3. Use at your own risk, no technical support for it.

The ceiling on the E6300/6400 chips seemed to be locked at 525FSB but this board treats the E6600 and up a little differently in my experience (memory performance is reduced also, still working it out with abit). I can straight boot into 535 with the E6600 but the system would black screen with our E6300/E6400 at that time. I am trying another BIOS spin today.

Thanks, thats high enough for me. Especially on a e6400. I just want to see the memory go higher and I'm sold. For now I'm leaning toward the asus 650i board.

Hey bingo, any word on overclocking enhancements? Yesterday i was working for max benchmarks and now im going for my 24/7 settings and i feel like a 1:1 1t improvment would be sweet, i couldnt get 1t over 400 though even with 2.8vdimm, 450 would be nice.

They will start working on 1T improvements once the RAID/IDE issues are completely solved. The priority is to get the base functionality working correctly before going back to fine tuning.

    but 650i doesn't do 500+ on the 1067 strap ... (change to 1333 is more like 423)

& there are plenty of other 650is coming shortly if that is the way that you want to go.

    @Revv23

How does the board feel in windows to you though, do you feel its snappier in any way. Other than benching. I was thinking about picking one up as a second board but im just scared of lack of support from abit.

Also how are you liking the ddr maximizer. I was thinking about picking one up, not really for extreme volts since most boards are coming with decent enough voltages nowadays but to have a baseline of what my memory will do at particular voltages. I saw you posted a while back about your memory needed less volts after the maximizer. I thought that was pretty cool too.

Just one thing I've observed, and not sure if the new bios fixes. I had my keyboard option set to usb bios. Needed for a multi os.

When installing software from dvd(IDE), or copying to the harddrive it was taking forever. 10 mins into an install and the progress bar is still not even near 50%.

Changed the usb keyboard option back to OS, and the DVD is back to normal.

Will have to check if this new bios fixes that issue.

    Just an observation.

This boards sound promising... I'm very interested in more quad core results... In the mean-time I have a few other questions...

Vcore stability - is it rock stable?
    Vcore droop - how bad?
Speedfan - does it pick up voltages, temps, and fan speeds on this board?

Hmm well im running the same 24/7 clocks right now and as you can imagine its no different in windows... but i maxed out higher and i was able to run 4.1ghz in windows which frankly wasn't possible on the P5B... so in a while ill test for higher 24/7 clocks as i am confident that they are there, and that would be noticable.

About the maximizer - I freaking love it. If you ever want to bench seriously it should be the first thing on your list, i don't know how i got along without it. For instance, when clocking yesterday i set my ram timings a bit too tight, no problem, increase voltage until it boots, set the timings lower, decrease voltage... clocking in windows with clockgen? just turn the pot a bit for more voltage, no shutting down for more volts - its way better then a vmod too becasue you dont need to juggle a multimeter and a screwdriver around near your motherboard, its all just right there on the unit.

Also it brought my max memory OC on P5B in 4-4-4 from 560 with 2.6v to 575 with 2.6v and also allowed me to break 600 with 2.8v, as the voltage stability was so bad on P5B that the ram couldnt handle more then 2.6v...

On the abit the difference might not be quite so large as the board was designed to handle 3.0v on ram, and has some high quality circuitry, but i still have no doubt that the maximizer would give noticable gains...

If you aren't interested in hardcore benching, i still recommend it - like you said i got the same mhz at less voltage - i went from 450 4-4-4 at ~2.35 to 2.15v... However it's alot of money to spend if you aren't going to use it to bench. So it's more your call.

Also to note, if you get it you should be prepared to desoldier the VDimm coil from any mobo you use to ensure compatibility, if you aren't willing to do that then i wouldn't even bother.

so maximizer works on QuadGT without coil mods etc ? like P5B Deluxe ? interesting i got same memory clocks with P5B Deluxe vs Maximizer upto 2.45v vdimm!

I desoldered the coil on my P5b and on my quad GT... even if it's compatible you should get less interference without the signal, plus i don't wawnt to risk trying, i have heard of a few dead boards and i sure don't want that PITA on my hands.

It's odd you got the same clocks, i certainly didnt even come close, perhaps its a QC issue with asus, some pwm's might be slightly stronger then others...

The beta BIOS resolves this issue although I still noticed pausing at times with it set to BIOS on a couple of Logitech keyboards but Microsoft seems to be fine. They still have some fine tuning to do.
