    620w Enermax liberty not upto a 8800GTX ?

I installed a XFX 8800GTX yesterday and since i have ive been having a few problem which i suspect is lack of power.

The first thing i noticed after installing is the post screen seems jerky when detecting devices etc, I can only descibe it to be like the lag in windows when you havent installed your graphics drivers.

Also if I download anything my system keeps freezing for a second say every 5 seconds and eventually the download with fail. Also i copy say a 100mb folder to another part of my harddrive it will copy ok but im not able to do anything else, the taskbar is frozen and and it wont even let me CTRL-ALT -DEL ??

I would have thought my enermax liberty 620w would have been fine with one GTX, ive connected both the PCI-e connectors to the card.

    My complete system:

    Asus P5WDH
    Conroe 6600 @ 3.6Ghz
    2Gb Team Xtreme ram
    XFX 8800 GTX
    76GB Raptor
    300GB Maxtor
    Swiftech apex W/C
    2 x 80mm fans
    Floppy
    DVD/RW
    CDROM

The card seem to run fine, not problems playing games or running 3D06 and it has overlocked to 660/2060 so far .

I wondering whether i need to shell out on a more powerful PSU or whether ive a faulty 8800?

Here a pic of everest and the voltages look ok.

    Thanks

Mate, my friend got crossfired X1900XT+XT CF and practically same PC Specs as you and its just fine (ok mobo is like mine) its stable. How about clean Windows XP install? or you did it already? Disconnecting DVD/CD/Floppy you tried? Disabled sound card?

ive just checked in event viewer and theres a heck of a lot of these errors. Maybe my raptor is on its way out all of a sudden since installing 8800gtx or its just losing power.

Yep. A trip to Radio Shack and $25 later and you have a nice DMM.

Can I ask - did your 8800 GTX make a whining/squealing noise sometimes (particularly when shutting down and starting back up without switching off at the mains first) as a result of these problems?

Well at least it's not just me suffering from the problem then.

At least the place I bought it from has a nice and straight forward returns process (they even arrange for items to be picked up from houses by the looks of it).

I think when mine has been returned (assuming it gets refunded with no problems) I will wait to see what comes of this beeping/squealing/whining problem first. After all it did crash once (during one running of 3dmark2001se) and there were artifacts showing on the Asus P5W logo at the startup towards the end of it being in my PC - none of which happened with my old card.

so this psu can run this badboy? cause I got this psu, thinking it'd be enough for my future system (which could just happen to have an 8800gtx in it, along with a core 2 quadro )
Prescott 2.4 @ 3.6 air, stock vcore under a Thermaltake Big Typhoon
    Asus P4P800-E deluxe no mods
    BFG 6800gt 256mb @ 420-1100
    4x512mb (2cvs, 1corsair c2, 1kvr)
RAID 0 + bunch of storage totaling about 2TB
    Enermax Liberty 620w [since 2006-06-21]
    Antec SLK3800B
    36.031s SPI 1m @ 3971mhz

No need for a faster pc, im always on my laptop anyway.

That might make a difference... Though with the lower power requirements of the C2 it should be okay as long as you do not have too many HDD's.

I ran into this type of problem and discovered that I had to much load on one rail. Moved some connectors around and have had no further problems.

Lot of peoples have problems with combo - P5W DH+8800GTX! It is not about PSU! You must set in BIOS "Slot Power" to HEAVY and you will have no problems.

My "slot power" is at AUTO on my P5W DH and I don't have any problems with my XFX 8800 GTX. My system is rock stable.

    PSU is Antec Trio 650W.

My 8800 GTX is also not whining. I really like that video card. Performance is impressive.

I liked it too but I just couldn't live with that whine (not at £425 for certain). A mystery for sure.

The Liberties are good units. I've heard of one case of one freakin out but that's all. It should power your system with ease.
