Stupid Suggestion. VF900 does outperform stock, but not by much...the accelero has performance lower than stock...and it ALWAYS increases mobo temps by some ~5C at full fan speed.

not true at all... VF900 is worse than stock, and accelero is better, but it does increase case temps, i'll give you that..

This has been my experience as well. In fact, I just stuck the Accelero on a few hours ago. Here's what I found...

    X1900XT
    Ambient temp of 24C
    Antec P180 3 Tricool's on Med: 1 middle front, 1 middle rear, 1 HDD
    Fear Combat for 10 minutes

    Zalman VF900 @ 100%
    Arctic Ceramique
    GPU: 79C
    CPU: 41C
    SYS: 41C

    Accelero X2 @ 100%
    Arctic Ceramique
    GPU: 69C
    CPU: 39C
    SYS: 45C

The Accelero has the added bonus of being almost silent, whereas the Zalman can be heard...don't get me started on the leaf blower. So I'll def be keeping the Accelero, but I may stick another fan up top to help with system flow. Why oh why couldn't AC just stick to DHES...

bottomline is : there's no good replacement cooler for X1900 :'(

i still wonder why noone has made a good silent replacement fan that's actually using the exaust from the pcb...

i got the VF900 as it was available at a shop near me, but i'm still wondering if i put it on or not ... i was very happy with my VF700 @ 6800 Gt though

as an accelero owner, there is no good replacement as the last post said. i have good case ariflow so the x2 isnt too bad, but as cooling performance goes, the only thing thats noticeably better than stock is water cooling...

When the X2 was in my Stacker, I noticed a 1C difference in system temps. The only reason the P180 is different...a single 120 exhaust as opposed to 2. I've had experience with 2 cases, 2 19XT's, a VF900, a VF700, Stock, and 2 Acceleros. I can fully recommend the Accelero over all. It cools as well as Stock at 100% and as long as you have at least a single 120mm, you need not worry about system temps.

The Stock fan RUINS my day. It IS a hair dryer. There are av files on the tech report and a few other sites if you need confirmation. The Zalmans are much quieter, but did not perform on par to the Accelero's. Not to mention, the Accelero's silent, the Zalmans were not.

I don't believe I'm alone in the Accelero > Zalman/Stock fan either. Someone put up a compilation of temps and then there's the madshrimps review as well.

    cky2k6:

What are you using to cool it now?

its a beast at full rpm, but you need ati tool to do it, but it will rarely go at 5,000 rpm.
