    cant OC DFI Infinity 975X/G

    well, its really simple.
Ive tried to OC with almost no knowledge, only the most basic stuff...

and I cant get over 320 FSB, on 320 ith a prime 95 stability test the NB goes up to 65c and the CPU is about 53c

and its really strange, cuz ive been told that I should be able to get about 370.

so I guess that im doing something wrong. can someone guide me, step by step, how to OC that thing?

    thats the rig:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
    DFI Infinity 975X/G
    Corsair XMS2 512MBx2 800Mhz
    Sapphire X1900XT
    Enermax 420W

B.T.W - all cooling is stock

What mem divider are you using? Most people can't seem to get over 320 without using 4:3 (on the current official BIOS). And even then the crap out looks to be 370-380.

I just bought this board myself. Seems to be the most promising of the lot with the exception of the P5B and that vaporware (at least in the US) Biostar.

    1) I don't have the bios in front of me, there are a couple of screenshots of it in some of the Infinity threads.
    2) 731 is the latest official one I believe.
    3) It should say somewhere either during post or in the bios itself. I think CPU-Z will tell you as well.

    1) I believe its under the DRAM timings in (the first option).
    2) http://us.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/97TID731.zip
    3) I thought they were all done by date, maybe not the original though.

I should note that I have yet to receive this board. I am helping you based on the 30+ hours I spent reading every bit of info I could on the board before buying it.

    1) ok
    2) 99.999% sure. Version 731, like I mentioned above. Whatever you do, if you see ANY BIOS being offered anywhere marked 814 or 816, don't get it yet, at least two people have killed their BIOS with that version.

Edit: I have a hockey game in 45 minutes, I have to go. Hopefully one of the other 975X/G owners I see trolling right now can help.

i personally dont understand the dividers on Intel boards very well. AMD's are much easier to understand. I will have this board tomorrow though so hopefully we'll figure something out.

You probably just need to raise the vcore to 1.35v to carry on past 320fsb.

You might need to raise it a bit more when you reach 370~390

I'm here, wrong time listed for my game.

Like I said, to get above 320 you will need to go to the 4:3 divider probably.

The only people getting above 320 with 1:1 that I have seen have been doing it with an experimental BIOS. Don't ask for it.

but there isn't a divider setting.
the only thing that does that is a setting that let you set the memory speed (400, 533, 667, 800), so I set it to 533. should I change it?

and on 320 my NB temp is getting really high, up to 64. is it too high?

    Change it to 400, that's equivalent to 4:3 (266:200 / 533:400)

that is the divider. when he says 4:3, thats what most people are used to. this board though fancily calculates it by your FSB. for instance if your FSB is 100, then when it says 133mhz as a selection, that is '4:3'. RAM:FSB 4:3.

whether your memory is capable of DDR2-800 or 400mhz (the 400mhz that it lets you select is DDR2-800) i do not know

EDIT my 'chipset' temperature (which is the SB not the NB from what i hear) hovers at 46-53*C (actually i think my AS5 is finally baking in because this is the first time ive seen 47*C after its been on a while) (the 53*C was before this baking in so my max might even be lower) (this is the first time ive actually seen AS5 bake in, every cpu and chipset redo ive ever done temps never changed from day one until now)
