OMG Look at this for bs!!

    LOL.. I emailed ASUS tech support for a new bios chip for my p5w dh deluxe. I waited 72 hours for a reply and look what I got;

    Dear sir/madam,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is Penny. It's my pleasure to help you with your problem.

P5W DH Deluxe can't support Intel Core 2 Duo processor now. Please refer to the CPU support list of P5W DH Deluxe to change another processor to use.

That a cracking reply... Asus deserve to be publically humiliated for that statement.... although we all know that they are right, P5W DH does not support C2D unless it shipped with the later Bios.

One to take up with your retailer i fear.

Actually what she said is actually right.

The current stock uses an old bios which doesn't support conroe. The new batch will be out soon with the new bios for Conroe Support.

Many of the current owners of P5W DH Deluxe (including myself) had a problem booting up the system due to the old bios not supporting Conroe CPU. A beta firmware is available which works with Conroe.

I don't think you understand why I sent the email..

I asked for a new bios chip with C2D support..

anyway, ordered a celeron 331 now anyway, ing asus bs reps

and anyway even if the bios doesn't support C2D, they shouldn't write it clearly on the front of the box if they're going to reply with some bs like that

i just think its BS that they put Core2 support on the box when it required a hotflash to get Conroe to POST.

The good news, in the UK anyway, is that the retailer dont have a leg to stand on as they are being sold as supporting C2D and the box says it... RMAing will be very easy and if a better board turns up soon, thats what i will be doing (getting a free update)

exactly, even if they're not officially released yet, you can't market something as supporting a CPU when infact it doesn't unless you buy another CPU or hotflash..

C2D cpu isn't out yet. So it's normal that it's not on supported list.

Asus rep only look at document they have to work with. On the compatible list, there is no sign of C2D, so they say it's not working.

Those rep don't think, they just cut/paste info.

seriously, regardless of where she's from, those people have to read from a script

asus is a big company, too big to be paying smart people to answer customer calls, they write the script, the iggy's read it, if they go off the script, they get canned

anyone here that's worked telemarketing of any sort, selling, customer service, whatever, for a large company, will tell you the same

but yeah, asus shouldn't be putting C2D support on the box if it dosn't

Just one point though... As retail C2D's are not available yet, we dont know for sure that the basic bios will not work. I know it seems unlikly, but Asus are hardly likley to officially support ES chips

Nope, ES and retail chips support is supposed to be the same since ES chips are sent out for Debugging and or troubleshooting, just a thought.

My board came with 0401 .

Ugh, I'm actually considering ordering a celeron-d 325j just for a hassle free method of updating the bios .
