Why not mill off 2mm all the way around and make a ledge like 2-3" from the base? Produces mcuh better mounts.

Tell me please more about this "fact"
All of my pots is mounted from top, all of those have 100% seal isolation from bottom to top
I cant understand those who use "bottom mounts"

    Looks nice

There is no difference really between bottom and top mount since you still have insulation in both cases. Insulation is not the problem

With BOTTOM mount: you got some ice around hold down & container becouse around hold down you have not isolated 100% air tight, thats for sure after +5h straight OC with LN2, tested that

With TOP mount: 100% seal isolation from bottom to top without any cuts in isolation, no ice nowhere after +8h straight OC with LN2
The CPU press via hold down is the same, no difference between BOTTOM or TOP mount.

It's easyer to isolate and do an container with TOP mount

    Thanks guys .

I'll mount it, exactly same as Dani's idea . Actually i did the design in that way thinking in having the most space avaible for working in the base . But right now i'm working in a new design in copper 2 1/4.

Trouffman: height is 23.8cm and weighs 1.1kg

About the bottom mount, like Dani pointed, after a few hours you can have ice around, but is possible to insulate with tape for minimizing. The two methods are fine, but i preferred this time with top mount.

    I can't remember the term,
but your stretching your mounting tension/pressure over a much larger space. It's the difference between holding a waterbottle on a table, and pushing a waterbottle from above down onto the table.

LOL, how much do you think I've lost in MHz with TOP mount
No, the fact is, you can screw down wing nuts to the end even if it is TOP mount, I can screw them down till my mobo crack

Ok, this mobo/CPU didn't even boot with tightness of this

When did they start making curved boards like that
I have an Ultra-D that still runs after I heard a 'crack' when tightening down a container once

    Nice container corvus

Well, I have not tried LN2 but with dice it is not really a problem, I got sometimes a bit frost near hold down plate but that's about it, it just stays there and does not bother me

    Thanks GHZ

And about the ice, that could be dependent of ambient temp and humidity but for example here when my first container that i made, check the ice around:

    That was after 6 hours.

Since then i insulate the hold down plate too, and there is no problem :

    .

yup, an insulated hold-down plate and a "few" fans keeps mine dry as a bone too
(tested for 8+ hours of D-Ice Benching fun)

Do you have pic inside the container, down there on bottom is the magic, not outside

    nice pots, and lapping,
if you are making them to sell them you could get carpal tunnel from the lapping, you could put the pots in a lathe and use sandpaper taped to mirror glass and lap them while it's spinning
