    7300GT On The Way ??

There might be a new Low End contender from Nvidia in the form of a lower clocked and quad disabled 7300.

It still has GDDR2 so I dont know how much of a diff its going to make, but quite interesting.

At that low of the spectrum.. they would be better off with onboard graphics..

thats why i dont get NN_Steps opinion about that ur just as well of with onboard.

this thing has 8 pipes and 128bit mem bus.
ofc has lower clocks then a GS but i doubt its far behind a 6600GT in performence.
seeing its also a 90nm core it could clock wel.
Also seeing a 7600GS with 256Mb of ram costs 100 euro i think it could b a cheap card.

Both are valid points, from two different perspectives. Yes you can unlock it to a 7600GS, but firstly, I was considered upgrading my X800GT to a 7600GS, but the performance lags quite a bit relative to a 7600GT, which made my decision a lot easier. Secondly, the benefits of reasoanbly powerful integrated video solutions (think x1600 in Apple macs) outweights the returns from having OEMs putting it in their systems hoping unknowing customers buying it for a gaming system (seeing as anyone who won't need graphics power for gaming will be better off with an integrated solution).

As you can see, both the X1300 and 7300 are caught between an increasingly potent integrated gaming segment while not offering substantial performance boosts over last gen hardware, hence my agreement with both statements.

Where the X1300 excels in creating value is its AVIVO capabilities and its multimedia capabilities (the all in wonder X1300 version), so unless you can create value other than just gaming performance, the low end isn't very practical choice for gamers or non-gamers.

With those specs 7300GT sounds quite faster than 6600. Of course it's not meant to run F.E.A.R on max detail but comparing it to onboard graphics is way off...

6600 DDR2 Yes, 6600GT no, hence my point.

EDIT: 7300GT is clocked at 350MHz core, 666MHz memory (effective) on 128-bit interface.

The card in the review is an XFX default speeds are 550/1600 1.4ns GDDR3 RAMs

    i dunno for shure but i think a 6600Gt gets 4000-4100 3dmark05 .
so Perkam it seems the 7300GT doesnt only beat the 6600 but also the 6600GT.

if its price si sweet it could b a kick ass card for people that game sometimes and want a cheap card for it.
would be even sweeter if it unlocks to 12 pipes.

    Biostar also showed their 7300GT.
Biostar wil come with 2 7300GT models ofwich one has a fan and the otehr is oassivly cooled.
Anyway the specs of the Biostar cards are:

The SGate V7302GT21 (this one si cooled passivly)
    Core 400MHz
    Mem 350MHz/700MHz DDR2
    256MB

The SGate V7303GT21 (has a fan)
    Core 500MHz
    Mem 500MHz/1.0GHz GDDR3
    256MB

Both of these cards have higher clocks then the Nvidia reference model.
Seeing its the 7600 core i think many Partners will sell their 7300GT clocked above reference.

cheap gfx are valid, there are no motherboards as good as the DFI ultra-d for getting a good stable overclock
that also boast half decent intergrated gfx.
    I just replaced the x800xl in my rig with a 6200 for a few reasons;
x800xl was making my cpu heat up.
ATI cards and linux :no no:
    Makes my case more managable.
    passive cooling
but I really don't like the whole 'turbo cache' thing or SMS (System Memory Stealer) as I dubbed it.
So something like the 7300GT which has its own memory and hopefully runs nice and cool would be great.

    Guess what?
    An overclocked Inno3D 7300GT DDR3 at 600/1600 trashes my 6800GS!
