    GeIL DDR500 Ultra Series Modules

    GeIL DDR500 Ultra Series modules - 2x512Mb PC4000 2.5-4-4-7 2.8v

    Pics:

GeIL already have these module ratings available, the previous versions were Hynix or TCCD chips, these new ones are neither of these and have produced some interesting results. As I understand they do not like VIA chipsets but work well on the nF4 version esp. DFI - see below.

Packaging is the good GeIL quality as for their Ultra-series modules - Solid, clear presentation packaging with foam inserts.

Test Systems used were as below:

    CPU: A64 3000+
    MB: DFI nF4 SLi-DR / 623-3 / Orange
    HSF: XP-120 / Delta 3-blade
OS: Win2003 Server SP1 with updated patches
    GPU: ATI X300

    CPU: Opteron 146
    MB: DFI nF4 SLi-DR Expert / 12-07 / Orange
    HSF: VapoChill LS [AC]
OS: Win2003 Server SP1 with updated patches
    GPU: 2x Leadtek 6600GT SLi

    Results:

    Initial boot - Stock Default settings - DDR400 2-4-4-7

They would not boot DDR400 2-2-2-5.

    DDR400 | 2-3-2-6 | 2.65v | Pi8M

    DDR510 | 2-3-3-6 | 3.05v | Pi32M

    DDR520 | 2-3-3-6 | 3.05v | Memtest Err on SLI-DR MB

    DDR520 | 2-3-3-6 | 3.05v | Pi32M - Expert

    DDR570 | 2.5-4-4-7 | 3.05v | Pi32M - Expert MB

    DDR580 | 2.5-4-4-7 | 3.05v | Pi32M

    370x9 | 140 Divider - Expert MB
    DDR512 | 2-3-3-6 | 3.05v | Pi32M

These modules may have DDR600 in them yet with some more time and extra timing tweaks and are worth considering.

    not all TCCD does 2-2-2@200MHz.

i've seen some TCCD based stuff not able to do 2-2-2, and i even had first-hand experience with TCCD like that a few months ago... it was Corsair XMS 4400C25.

ncsa, AFAIK those were always Hynix. do you have a digital camera by any chance?

These are a new chip for these modules (Emperor) - and they are not TCCx.

Was meant to post up some pics, will do so when the camera comes back from it's own little adventure...

Trying to see if they will hit DDR600.

of course they're not Samsung, they are too cheap to be TCCx.

Emperor? LOL, no such thing AFAIK...

FYI, GEIL comes from Golden Emperor International Ltd. sure you're not getting that Emperor stuff from there?

i have a set coming too, they are an unknow IC, we have just been told they are relabed by Geil to Emperor.

but they aren't TCCx as they dont seem to behave the same at all... as you can see they seem to scale @ 3-3.1V.

ive been told this ic will do DDR600+(in some cases obviously), just need to see a few more sets.

    but nice results ncsa

They are not Samsung IC's.But will be the new midrange GEIL OC memories. How many Samsung IC's can handle 3.1 vDimm?May be no one.

great, more input on these is certainly welcome...

BTW targ, do you know when exactly did GEIL switch this product to that 'new unknown IC'? it used to be Hynix.

and do you know more on those new Ultra-X PC3200 'NF4 edition'?

Those modules in the other link have a different chip in use from these modules... have posted some pics up in Post #1.

GeIL have previously used both Hynix and TCCD in these modules before..

    great, thanks for the pics!

from 3rd pic they look very similar to Hynix... so they could be ProMOS which actually uses Hynix manufacturing technology.

if thats the case, can you tell me how to identifiy the ICs via the PN:

If these are PC3200 Ultra-X modules then that part number indicates they are UTT chips. In which case you may find that adding a higher Vdimm gets them to perform and hold at 2-2-2-5. My Ultra-X set will do up around DDR490 at 3.3v but did take some burn-in to push them up there.

    i think i was misunderstood.

yes, Ultra-X PC3200 is one on the pic... and i'm aware that PN1243 is UTT-BH and PN0746 is TCCD for Ultra-X PC3200.

but i would like to know how to identify ICs on GEIL we're discussing here, Ultra Platinum PC4000, since you said that both Hynix & TCCD (along with these new ICs) are possible.

Ok... I do not have that info on hand but will try to seek that out for you.... I still was thinking of that other thread which had Ultra-X PC3200 modules hence the side track

im affraid i dont know when the change over was, but nsca is gonna find out.

as far as im aware there will be two new products in the line...
    PC3200
    PC4000

with the PC4000 being binned @ DDR500 2.5-4-4-7 2.85V. this is for the average user with sub 3.0v vdim. but as you can see they scale on or above 3.0v. and more voltage allows you to tighten up quite a bit.

I'm not sure about identity of those @Jaco but my first feedback about Emperor IC's:
I needed 2.8vDimm to run those modules at DDR400 2-3-2-5 1T absolutely stable:

    And without any tweaks hit 270Mhz 2-3-3-7 1T 3.1vDimm

I was realy surprised by this fast memory which breathes in the TCCD neck
