Kamerat, what did you use as the shim? It looks like some kind of a foam?

Yes, it's some kind of 3 mm thick "self sticking" foam, not sure what type or brand. Used the same stuff to isulate the CT-479.

Yeah it looks tinted in the photo, but looks perfect normally, I have a heatspreader so it's easy to tell that it's not tilted by looking under the sink.

the p4p800-e is supported, but only bios 1007, 1008, 1009 and 1010beta. if you want to change multi in bios, you have to flash a p4p800se bios on it, works perfectly, only raid doesnt.

I need 3,60-3,70V Vdimm - which mod will be better with pot or directly 3,3 line ??
Without pot (line 3,3 to Vdimm) it is easy to control Vdimm voltage (beacouse of monitoring line 3,3)

got my Dothan Sonoma 760 today and began mod'n it, well at least an insert to help the HSF (Zalman 9500) IE heavy, sit properly on this OPEN processor. High side temps should be no more then 55c. So I started thinking and looking around what I could use. After doing the research the processor is .82mm above silicon. So a 1mm shim would work great. I found a 1.5-2m thicker rubber that I don't think I'm going to use as it is too thick! So I found a gladware container, exactly 1mm thick and semi plyable plastic. Capable of handling 55c easily, think microwaveable, boiling water, etc... Pictures below.

I'm considering adding a layer of electrical tape to one side to up the squish effect under Zalman 9500 tightening. I will seat the HSF and then remove to see how the contact went. I am planning on flipping the S bracket on the unit and will monitor the tightness. Any other hints or tips? I don't see anywhere that anyone ever attempted a 9500 on a Dothan.

Eist is just not there anymore and when you got download CPUMSR the download times out. I'd be more then happy to put these on my domain with unlimited bandwidth as a mirror.

Hmm isn't that what AS5 is for? Anyhow I ended up removing it because I was curious if it was getting decent contact... per the photo's below you can tell it was getting decent contact.. but I wanted to be 100% certain and removed the shim.

I had to do several things to get this Zalman to fit snuggly against the Dothan. First you have to flip the brackets. In doing so you will notice that it hits the 4 pin voltage connector!!! You must carefully bend that forward. Then You have to secure the upside down brackets. I did this with some stripped 16 guage wire that I crimped around the stock HSF posts as seen in the pictures below. Final step was inserting a washer underneath the sclip. I am still contemplating a 2nd washer, but have not done so yet. I need to get some feed back on my temps before I try to get the HSF tighter. First my idle temps with 1.6v (1.54v) is 44c, at full load it hits 60-61c. This is at a 13x215 OC. Running Prime95. Temps quickly come down to 44c upon stopping

For those of you who had modded zalman hsf to use w/ ct-479 and dothan,
the clip where you insert screws to mount with brackets has a slight angle makes it not flat.

Do you flatten it out then proceed with tighten the screws or do you leave it untouched?

Left it untouched... you need all the force you can since you flip the brackets it increases the height by about 3/4 inch I wish we had straight bars, that way i could get some clamping force!

I since have moved the brackets back to their normal position where they droop down but mounted them onto of the existing 478 bracket... it lowered the entire clamping setup about 3mm on each side... it has made about a 4c difference in temps! I was nervous to put that more clamping for down but that is exactly what she needed. Max temps are 52-54 at full load now.

Well rule of thumb is a bb sized drop... well as I found out the first time that is too much, so I since shrank that down to just a thin strip. When I checked it the last time it had hardly any over spill.

I would like to know what you guys think about using 2w resistors for the vdroop mod before I proceed.

Yeah that is what I kind of thought as well... I'm at 2.77ghz and need more volts to push it further... so I might do the pin jumper or actually do the whole vdroop mod...

p4p800 w/ 1021.006 bios, vcore now become adjustable up to 1.6v
vagp can select up to 1.8v, vdimm can select up to 2.85v

only thing missing compare to p4p800se appears to be multiper and thermal auto control option.
(speedstep not yet working w/ p4p800?)

the only thing i find it's weird is my cpu temp, somehow cpu temp stays at around 50-52 regardless of cpu been idle or full load

Hell you both should be happy my P4c800-e doesn't like to post at anything above 240mhz... 250x11 is just a pipe dream for me... I've gotten it to post using 12 multiplier at 230 and that is stable for 2.75ghz

My best superpi is 27s atm.
