Conductive paint is maybe a better choice if you don't have a soldering iron or the skills. Easy to undo, just wipe it off with alcohol.

I am also interested is it possible to do this mod on D820 dual coreOriginally Posted by markodude
Just to answer a question (was linking another person to this thread), I left the Vcore at default as again Dell mobos have no options for OCing. As far as I can tell this should work on the dual core processors as long as they are stable at the faster speed, it is also possible to mod the vcore on the processor in the same fashion but you need to know the real default voltage of your processor (CPU-Z does not report this accurately). Also I plan on trying to do this as soon as Dell has a good deal on a 920 system![]()
Dell 9300 1.6@2.13 ghz 1 gig ddr2 533 fsb, geforce 6800go for about $950
Dell 8400 630 @ 4 ghz EE, 160 gig, 512 mb ddr2, x300se 2 X 17" LCDs dvd burner and dvd rom $650
HTPC: shuttle sn85g4v3 3000+ DTR, radeon 9600XT, ATI TV wonder pro, dvd burner 512 DDR around $450
I'm wondering why you can't do pin mod in the socket with a U shap wire?
like he old skt a days i did that on a few of my procs when i had a kt600 junk oc mobo (i loved that board fast and stable) and hell it took a few shots to get it right where you wanted it to be stable as fare and voltages and such but other then that worked great...this seems to be the the new tech way of doing it...stupid question would this work on A64's?

It´s socket 775, no easy way to do a wire mod in socket ;-)Originally Posted by tonyl
You mean the wire can't fit in the socket? Never dealt with a 775 mb.Originally Posted by olDirdey
Just to let you know I got this mod to work on an 840 Pentium D, however the board I have it on will only run stable to 250FSB, regadless of multipliers etc. I managed a quick screenshot at x14 though

I wanna warn that on p5wd2 premium mobo this trick doen't work(BSEL1 isolate).
(i have an 630 that could works up to 4280 on default voltage & chek it)
hmmm, thats is troubling since the mobo supports 266 fsb processors, oh and you shouldn't be isolating a pin but instead grounding it.
It would also be nice if you could post the pic Markodude as mine is fairly crappy![]()

I tried to put a tiny wire in the 775 socket on a P5WD2-Premium i have measured the impedance it was ok (strap),also had to rise manualy the fsb to 266 but it did not worked It get stuck after 20 seconds of win xp sp2 Though i managed to get a small prt scr of the generall my compwith 4.01 ghz.I have a P4 630 on the machine.I am an in microelectronic business so soldering would not be a problem but i dont want to do that because the proc.is new and i will lose warranty and any chance of upgrade. So my questions areoes it work on the board i have.P5WD2-Premium.Does it have to be recognized by the moatherboard with a default fsb 266(on auto settings) or i have to change that manually.and final question:Is this a Overclock like rising the fsb manually? or "transforming phisically" the fsb on the processor effectively to 266mhz. Thank's 4 reply's
i want to do that of course with the Box cooler and try to keep it as low noise possible.can it be done?????!!
