I am buying a new M.Board for my opteron 146 (socket 939), and I have read that I can mod a DFI LAN PARTY UT ULTRA-D to be a normal SLI board.
hoe can I do it? is it dangerous? is it a 100% success?

It's a 100% success.
You have to remove the chipset cooler and maybe have to remove some epoxy.
Then you have to cennect one bridge for SLI.
But you will also need a SLI bridge which will cost about 20 bucks.
Opteron 144
DFI nf4
2x256MB Kingston HyperX3000 BH5
Antec TrueBlue480 w 120mm fan and modded rails
sounds complicated, can you give me a guide or something? I want to see pics.Originally Posted by Flib
It's a lot easier than you think. All you have to do is remove the chipset HSF, and then there are 2 little dots that you connect (cut traces) with a line from a pencil or something conductive. It's like the old T-Bird days where you'd connect the bridges on the processor to unlock the multiplier.Originally Posted by -Blaze-

But I heard from a lot of places that nvidia has blocked this
option since the driver 6x.xx
so its true?

How can drivers block mainboard feature?
I dont know but i heard from a lot of furoms...Originally Posted by Kasparz

Don't believe them
It is a hardware mod, drivers will never tell you the difference. They will just tell you that you have nforce SLI![]()
...
Before driver 6x.xx , sli mode 2x/8x was possible without any hardware mod by just placing the jumpers different.
Nvidia blocked this on request of some motherboard manufactors (sp?), but the hardware mod will work anyway.
Good Luck, a mate of mine has the same board, modded to sli, it kicks ass!

I did the SLI Mod last week with a Caig CircuitWriter Pen from Radio Shack... I let it dry overnight (prob didn't need to) and it worked great!!![]()
does it work with the new drivers?
Yep, as said before, drivers cannot detect this mod.
The mod is what tells the drivers what kind of chipset you have, not the other way around.
Also, be sure to NOT do the mod if you are only running single card. It uses up a few more clock cycles.
ebay under aws983s, heatware under Mr. Tinker.
I heard that it only works for older revisions of this board. Is that true? will it work on rev. AD0?
On newer revisions the bridge is covered in epoxy, scrape that off and you can do the mod.
That would mean an Ultra-D is faster as a genuine SLI-D when only using a single card. Interesting tidbit.Originally Posted by Mr. Tinker
It is supposedly slightly faster for single card. I can't prove it. I simply read it somewhere.Originally Posted by RTB

I think you worth to do this mod for DFI NF4-D. my CUP(OP146) could go more higher than i made it before. this is effect on two motherboard.
