GTX512 air action - 39500 in 3DMark03

I got pretty tired with cascades and liquid nitrogen last week so I decided to do some total air cooling action, the most fun part of benching if you ask me

System spec:
FX-57 (0530APMW)
Corsair XMS 3200LL BH-5 2x512MB
DFI NF4 SLI Expert
OCZ600WSLI

Cooling:
CPU; TT Big Typhoon + Delta 195CFM 120mm fan
GPU; Arctic Cooling Freezer + Custom made 230V AC fan

I started of with a singel Gainward 7800GTX 512MB with a custom air cooler. Managed to get these results:

Then I plugged in another Gainward 7800GTX 512MB to try some SLI in 3DMark 03 since I pretty much forgot all about with ln2. This is what I got:

40k on air in 03 is very possible. The lack of PSU power is the reason I hit a wall at only 675MHz. I'm at my parents place benching now for the holidays, will fetch my other OCZ this week to hit 40k on air. I will run some 05 in SLI then also.

I had alot of fun, gonna turn up the heat here now and get some sleep

Yeah... that is my 7-pci slot air cooler It actually fits in a case with the Expert motherboard

It's quite light for its size, and it rests on some fome so it is no worries at all. The mounting is also very secure. It pays of, maxed out @ 730MHz for nature in 3DMark 01 with an insane voltage of 1.83V. 720MHz @ 1.79V 3DMark 05 stable. This is with the room temp @ 10C.

Really nice work!! You are currently # 3 in the 03 top 20 with air. Very likely that you'll hit # 2 surpassing your own GTX 256, 40K score. Incredible........

Notice the difference in clocks between the single card and SLI runs....he didn't have two of these beasts in SLI. Still, GREAT runs there Kinc!

A Zalman 700-Cu, but with the airflow I have over the cards thats not what is limiting me. I do not have my other PSUs here, using a really old one for the fans and drives. Just one OCZ600W SLI-edition. 675 @ 1.62V is max it can handle before it runs out of 12V amps. I figured 700MHz should be possible without the PSU limting.

The OCZ 600W PSU has a built in saftey shut off. Since a singel 0.3A fan would trigger it @ 675MHz I know that I need more 12V current.

I got a superflower 550W and i hoped it would be good because my OCZ520 is in rma.
So when the rig was shutting down i thought mhh need to messure the psu rails.

stock => 11.9V (still fair)
oc'ed 7800GTX => 11.7V (getting low)
cpu and oc'ed GFX => 11.7V
running 3D05 => 11.2V (CRAP)
running 3D03 => 11.1V(is that a PSU?)

now running on my friends ocz520
always 12.2-12.3V

Very nice I would have a hard time fitting a gpu hsf like that into my case o_O

I would try this on water next Points people in the right direction because they see what they can expect for average cooling.

I have good readings. Dont get me wrong. The OCZ Powestreams are by far the best PSUs I've ever used. I wil have my other one this saturday
