    X1800 Xl = Wow!

Here are the final overclocks with stock cooler. Core needed 1.225v to reach 628. 1.2v would give lockups. 648 @ 1.25 would throttle down to 500 core. The reason I know this is because @ 628 core fill rate in 3dmark 01 was 9800 MP/sec, as expected. But, at 648 core, fill rate in 01 was just 7700 MP/sec, something a 500 core XL would likely do. VPU recover WAS disabled.

700 core gave immediate lock/black screen at voltage up to 1.3v, just too much heat for the little stock cooler.

Memory voltage is at stock (1.9), pretty amazing i say. I tried going to 800mhz, but no matter what volage, 1.9, 1.95, 2.0 or 2.05 I got artifacts. Again, just too much heat.

Still amazing how the XL needs LESS voltage to reach XT levels.

So, unless I get better cooling 1550 is max mem will do. On the core however, I could prolly get higher, but it already reaches 72'C at load and there is bug at 648 so Im gonna wait till official drivers and compatible ATI tool are released.

Also, for those getting X1800 XL, if you want CCC to display correct temps, you cant have the overclocking tool from driverhaven open at the same time.

Im sure score would be higher if I had one of those overclocked FX-57 everyone here seems to have.

*edit: idle temp has settled @ 55'C, at 100% fan of course.

Very nice results - You've just about convinced me to press the order button. If I buy one tonight, it's your fault and I'm giving my wife your phone number.

you mean like this... clocks almost identical to his... 630 core 750 mem

I used to have links here demonstrating how awesome I am, but it's been so long that they're not very relevant (and the pictures have disappeared), so I guess I'll have to get working on new stuff.

OK guys, i finally got around to OCing this baby.
All went well, but i soon realised that u need to up the voltage once u go past the 600mhz zone.

    I used stock cooling. AIR.
Should be able to push it even higher. But i decided to stop....for now.

    Here are my results.

BTW. I have a GeCube, so it seems that all x1800XL are pretty standard.

I see same numbers when looking at forums.
Seems to be uberclockers all of them.
Why didnt ATI raise clocks on this card ?
Not everyone know thats its a good overclocker.
    Everything extra is bad!

I some how think the XT delay has more to with the RAM chips than anything else. Other wise it seems the XL's are XT's with different ram and different voltages. Also raising the clock would mean it would be too close to the XT speeds, which we are already getting. I know that their will also 256mb XT versin out.

Just doesn't make sense for ATI to raise clocks.

I use ATI Tool to check voltages and have speed. ATI Tool can change voltages but not clocks atm.

I used this tool to change clocks and voltages. It also has a fan speed reading.

    @ Fugger, Nice OC.

But could u plz give us the voltages u using? This will help us to achieve better clocks. Also the memory has two voltage setting...core mem voltage and I/O mem voltage. Did u adjust both or just the core mem clock?

    Thanx

2v~ 2.1v on the memory and up to 1.33v on the core

Im back at stock voltages on Zalman atm.

I finally beat Oppainter First to kill a X1800 card. I cracked a core with a phase change block.
