Do I get a CCBWE 0547TPMW opt 165 and ditch my dud opt 170

I have the chance to buy a boxed retail opteron 165 CCBWE 0547TPMW for $315 and it seems from a little searching they get decent overclocks,,, I am trying to decide if its worth it to ditch my opt 170 0543 that core 0 cant get past 2.6volts and I need 1.54vcore just to be stable at 2.6,,,,

Is it worth it to sell of the opt 170 and take a chance on the 165,,, or just stick witht he sure thing 2.6ghz,,,

anyone have any experiance with the 0547 TPMW???

batch #rs are more important than steppings IMHO. Get alow 00-30 batch # and stepping means nothing.

Hey chew* i feel the exact opposite to you, tht batch numbers mean nothing, while stepping will tell you alot more abt the chip! Although in both cases there are CPU's which bunk the trend

Had no experience with dual core opties, so cant really comment, but al considering giving them a try, if only price would drop a little in UK

I have a 165 CCBWE 0457 and it's performs pretty well. At 312x9=2808, only 1.475 volts and I load at 34 C with watercooling. 18 hrs Prime stable too.

same here. I booted with 2700 @ def v ran prime and one core failed within a minute. the other was fine.
up the volts to 1.5 and still a no go.
one core is super good but the other is bringing it down.

so im sticking with the opt 170 w/ 2.8 @1.53

your opty does 2.8 with ,,, 1.53 vcore,, what stepping ?

and which chip of yours was stuck at 2.7 then?

maybe I guess I could get the 165 and see which overclocks better and then just sell the second chip...
