Yesterday, my friend Spd and I went on a dry ice overclocking session. We used the following hardware:
- DFI NF3 250GB
- 512MB 2.5-3-3-7 crappy Twinmos
- ATI Rage2 2MB PCI video card
- Seasonic S12 600W Rev2
- WD Caviar 120GB 7200rpm IDE
- Sempron64 3000+
- Sempron64 3100+
- old A64 3200+ ClawHammer, 1MB cache
15kg of dry ice!
Insulating the good old DFI with liquid electric tape
Preparing the system
To be honest, the insulation wasn't good at all. Although, the liquid electric tape saved us from some serious trouble..
Our first container mount was very poor and the results soon appeared..
On the next try, things were much better
Two pics of the system running:
As you can see, we couldn't forget active cooling for chipset and mosfets.
Yeah!
Now, this is what we managed to get..
- 3200+ Claw: 2854.15MHz
This C0 revision is quite old, can't even run at 2T.. anyway, this is a WR!
- 3100+ Sempron: 3195.79MHz
We reached 3213MHz, but the system was highly unstable and the validation file didn't survive.. even by a small margin, this is also a WR!
- 3000+ Sempron: 3264.48MHz
Our validation file at 3286MHz got corrupted, we were very very close to 3300MHz.. maybe next time, but this is another WR!
Sorry for those who were looking for some Pi/3D action, but this was our first DI run and we were not aiming for that kind of action. Maybe next time, some fun with Mushkin Redline UTT and X800Pro..
Finally, big thanks to Ratax!
EDIT: as requested, some container pics:
