trouble with new dfi nf4 system

i'm having massive problems getting my new dfi board to work. i've got the sli-dr revision A01, flashed to 0201 bios.

raptor raid0 attached to sata1,2, tried both ocz vx and 4200el in dimm slots 2,4. vapoLS on the cpu, x850xtpe watercooled. zippy 700w psu.

when i try to install windows, it randomly reboots as it begins copying files. furthermore, when i try to enable the 5v vdimm settings, following the instructions in the manual, (change cpu vcore, turn off power, unplug, move jumper, ...) the computer can't even post. the fans try spinning up but shut down as if there wasn't enough power. i've got the molex and floppy connector attached. i've spent the better part of 24hours trying to debug this and at this point i've given up.

i've remounted the vapoLS 2x now, no evidence of condensation and the watercooling isn't leaking.

I'm alittle confused here? I realize you have an LS/fx55/vx but why are you setting the vdimm to draw from 5v before you have gotten far enough to install an OS?
It's a new board to you, if i were you i would play with it some on air stock to get the OS installed and figure out what drivers you will ultimatly want and see how your different rams act on it. Just my opinion, but it looks like you're jumping the gun right off the bat with overclocking your stuff.

i played wth the 5v setting after a day of not getting being able to install windows. it's a separate issue. when installing windows, everything is at stock volts and frequencies. i do that in general with any install.

i'm stumped by the 5v issue because it seems as if the mobo isn't getting enough juice, even though i've got a 700w psu.

yes, i've cleared cmos hundreds of times. yes i power off and unplug when i changed the jumper and other components.

    update:

installed windows on an ide drive so it's a nvraid problem. i'll try installing to the siil3114 raid. i'd rather use the nvidia raid as it's a bit faster.

still having problems posting with the 5v setting

Have you tried installing windows on a single raptor? Maybe your raid drivers are buggy or something.

Try a single raptor on SATA 1, it wont even need a driver as NF4 fools windows into seeing IDE.

    Good luck.

That's great Jikdoc, i didn't want to come accross as being rude or making assumptions. One thing you could try is disable DMA access for the EIDE channel your cdrom is on and see if that helps. It's helped me in the past but i doubt it'll fix your issue but worth mentioning none the less.
Are you using a new to you cd/dvdrom to install with? I know alot of dvdrom's have read issues on some cd's.

LOL... nevermind my last post then.

BTW, I was able to get raid 0 using the NF4 ports on my gigabyte SLI by installing both of the NVidia raid drivers, one after the other. Did you install both?

Try using it on air first. Always should be done to rule out sub-zero as an issue. I thought it was, turn off and unplug, move jumper, turnon, up Vcore to 1.55v, restart, up Vdimm.

windows installed but i'm getting bsod at stock settings so something is still seriously wrong. the components i'm using have worked perfectly on a neo2 prior to installing.

i've tried installing both nvraid drivers as well as the siil 3114 drivers and combinations of all.

    i'll try turning off dma

it's strange because the system will reboot at varying points during the install. most of the time it reboots @ system starting windows. i've even got past the point of copying files to where it reboots on purpose and finishes the installation from the raid.

It might sound like a bad idea, but I'd remove the Vapo setup altogether and run the stock heatsink, or even another air cooled heatsink for now. Just to make sure.

Barebone time, strip the system to basic requirments, everything stock.

ok, i got windows installed and working but i can't seem to get the 5v setting working. i didn't do anything really different to get windows installed so i can't pinpoint what's going on. i'm thinking it might be the zippy as strange as it sounds. i noticed if i plug in extra hard drives the board won't boot, same as i get when i change to 5v vdimm. i've got these components hooked up:

    fx55, x850xtpe, dfi nf4 sli-dr, ocz 4200el
    zippy 6701P, vapoLS
    aquaxtreme50z 12v pump
    4 sata hard drives
    1 ide hard drive
    1 dvd-writer
    2 sanyo denki 120mm fans
    1 adda 120mm fan
    1 vantec fancard

Talked with Oskar already, this is not the problem cause by DFI, it's PSU 5v stand by problem.
