    Can't really beat a car heater core except with a bigger heater core.

    yeah, i think the double heater core performs at least as good as the dual black ice radiator and costs less...

    definatly go with the double heatercore. it is cheaper and will give you better performance than the black ice

    You don't need to put tape on the fins just hold the spray can far away and go at it.

    No actually I painted mine black with spray paint. and I didn't cover anything. That was the whole point, to paint the heatercore including the fins. Why bother painting, if you're not going to paint everything? And if you think painting the fins is going to increase your temps, then you should go back to air cooling. Ever notice the black Ice extreme II is completely painted?

    Just because the manufacturer of the Black Ice Extreme II radiators painted their fins does not mean that a coat of paint will not hinder the dissipation of heat.

    lol, dude try it yourself, painting the entire hc will make no difference in temps at all... i've seen people do it and it made no difference... I mean i still wouldn't paint my hc fins cuz i'm a paranoid bastard and even like .0001 less performance would piss me off...lol

    I have all the pics, etc. finished - its just a matter of getting the time to write it up and explain it. unfortunately - it is on a list with several other projects that have deadlines.

    Ahh, I understand. I've got lots of stuff on the back burner too...mostly school related

    Are you freely distributing the pics upon request?

    sweet weapon! i remember that thread hehe

    good to see you back! if you want i can help you writing that guide
    let me know

    you can use a lot of the stuff you posted in threads like the one you linked to and just change some sentences and words to make it the text for your guide helps a lot to save time and it makes more fun to work on text like that and adding and changing stuff than writing all the things youve said so often down again from scratch

    and yes, painting a heatercore doesnt really have a bad impact on temps. afaik painting it black with a thin layer of spray paint even increases the heat dissipation

    that spary paint is a very very very thin layer, and the paint is not insulating that much, especially since its so thin. if youd use silicon based paint instead you would def get worse temps as it insulates a lot and will create a much much thciker film of paint on the surface of the rad/fins.

    thanks for the offer - much appreciated. I think I can get it nailed down before long though. I was debating whether I should go for the plexi shroud or the metal one - either can be done with a few tools at home but the metal one requires a little more skill and hardware to really nail it - at least that was my take on it.

    anyway, I have some fun stuff in front of it but it will be taken care of before long - I have to get a H2O box shipped out to a friend and it is going to be an interesting creation - U2-UFO case, new swiftech block and pump, etc. etc. etc.

    I also got temporarily sidetracked when I discovered my cable modem was running hella hot - you could feel the heat pouring out of the vents. So I yanked it apart and discovered zero cooling measures (no real surprises there) and the main processor setting on a not-so-lovely 55C during online gaming. I ended up mounting a hsf on the main chip and wiring it into the PCB for power - that was a fun little project but I probably should have watercooled it just to be silly...
