it's never fast enough!
more pics
heatsink for NF chip comes with super super super crap thermal TIM like on Northwood P4's with the "tin" foil in it.
I took that off and put on some silicon paste

Gonna crank it up in a bit, both board and video

see I told you bud, ...A2..
Have fun..I know I am bad...very bad..![]()
you are so naughty OPB :P
yeah it's A2, but too late as I already ordered
oh well let's try to have some fun with it.

CTL+F1 gets you into advanced chipset features.
250HTT and 4x HT fails 3DMark2001se---is it A2 related failing 1000mhz htt? WE will see, I backed it down to 3x HT multi and give it another go at 250
edit: Seems maybe cpu doesn't oc to same level on this board. Prev on MSI K8N Neo2 2.75ghz stable with Alpha at 1.64v. With this board-1.65v in bios results in 1.61v real. Stalls at 2.75 in benches. Down multi to 10x and will test further. Just some FYI

doh, even froze here at 250x11 and 3x HT
back to drawing board----------------------------------\
Nevermind----see above---cpu was oc'd too far

Sounds just like the K8NS Ultra 939. Absolute garbage! Sorry John, lets see how the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra does.
Edit:
oops, didn't see the 2nd part. lol

we'll I'm still gonna play around
I don't mind! Well I kinda do, but compared to my real life in past week, this is NOTHING.

I know, I'm glad holidays are over!
What does A2 on the NF4 mean? enlighten us please. What are we suppose to look for on the Nf4 chipset? A3?

ok, fsb clocking sorta sorted
I tell you all what!!
I am so freaking impressed with the 6600GT
freaking 8K+ in 3DMark03 at default Vid card clocks for <$200 WOWOOWOWOWOW!

A3 is the version that officially supports 1000MHz HTT, earlier A2 buggy at 1000MHz so instead of scrapping they are selling as value type boards.

so what are the chances our Chaintech's will have the same A2?

gigabyte site also says 1000 for hyper transport, so that means nothing...
so if the Nf4 says A2, does this give us the right to RMA if it isn't working as advertised?

I will have chaintech in a few days too
Re: Gigabyte.... I don't blame them, they are trying to get board to market for good price. This is pretty decent price for early NF4 and performance is good. TBH 1000mhz vs 800mhz is basically no extra performance. If the board oc's well otherwise I'm ok with it.

here's something interesting....Chipset: NVIDIA nForce4 4X MCPs (gigabyte)

exactly, but my point is that the chaintech is advertised as nf4 ultra and gigabyte is advertised as NVIDIA nForce4 4X MCPs on newegg site.Originally Posted by µnrealneo²
well we will see how chaintech is when it comes

so I take it that the gigabyte didn't go too far.Originally Posted by JNav89GT

It just looks that there are 2 types, the nForce4 4X which is the A2 board by the looks of it and the nforce 4Ultra which i assume will be A3.
going fairly well, I'm cpu limited and ram voltages could be better as well
this is with vid card oc as seen on screen
270HTT ram 1:1 HT3x
cpu at 2.7ghz Winchester etc...
