    600MHz+ FSB Benching session Gigabyte X38-DQ6 + E6750 + Corsair PC10000 + SS Phase

    Hi guys

    Well well well. I was going to get a good night's sleep as i was flying to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup and all.....but i got a CPU in mail Monday and just looking at that shiny L720A batch for this E6750 made me test for just 10 minutes >>>>> NOT

    It turned into a 5 hour session in the end LOL >> yup no sleep and flying out REALLY early in the morning

    oh btw >> IF ANYONE HAS 550+ FSB benchable CPUs of any kind please PM ME

    Let's cut to the chase

    TEST SETUP
    • Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 (DDR2) Motherboard F3 bios
    • 2GB kit Corsair Dominator PC10000 DDR2 RAM
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 L720Axxx CPU
    • PCI nvidia MX400 GFX card
    • Blackbox SS Rotary Phase Change
    • 80GB SATA Maxtor HDD
    • 620W Corsair HX620 PSU
    • Windows XP Pro 32-bit

    I don't know what's sicker here. This motherboard, CPU, RAM or SS cooler w00t

    19-23C Ambient Temps during testing

    In case you were wondering about magic setups in bios >> well it was very simple >> ONLY ADD volts to components if they respond to it. That is the best advice i can give you. It is time consuming but you will reap the rewards when done right and since every setup is different there is not much point copying settings

    Here is what i ended up collecting off the HDD in the end:

    CPUz Verification:

    4900MHz 1.69v
    612.5MHz FSB
    612.5MHz 5-8-8-26 2.35v
    -48C on SS Evap

    PiFast 19.41s
    @4839Mhz 1.64v
    > 605Mhz FSB
    > 4-4-4-8 Timings on RAM with 2.43v
    > -46C Load on evap (-48C Idle)

    1M SuperPi 10.359s
    @4868Mhz 1.69v
    > 608.5Mhz FSB
    > 4-4-4-4 Timings on RAM with 2.43v
    > -46C Load on evap (-48C Idle)

    32M SuperPi 10m 13.563s
    @4843Mhz 1.69v
    > 605.4Mhz FSB
    > 4-4-4-4 Timings on RAM with 2.43v
    > -46C Load on evap (-48C Idle)

    1024M wPrime 9m 37.422s
    @ 4750Mhz 1.63V Load
    > 593.6Mhz FSB
    > 4-4-4-8 Timings on RAM with 2.43v
    >>> load temps on CPU were -14C and evap -45C >>> even at 4842Mhz 1.69 Load it was a degree difference only but it would just shut down at around 75% of the benchmark LOL

    32M wPrime 17.891s
    @ 4835Mhz 1.69V Load
    > 604.4Mhz FSB
    > 4-4-4-8 Timings on RAM with 2.43v
    >>> load temps on CPU were -15C and evap -45.5C

    Great little CPU this one is

    yeah well thats the only thing i can fault about gigabyte performance is the PL, you cant get the PL as tight as asus at any given fsb (unless 400mhz or under), but i guess ram clocks and cpu speed make up for that

    true

    i haven't tried to put a pot on it and dry ice with high volts so that is the only thing that may help

    actually too many volts in NB reduce the OCs.....this was all stock
