I Hope So I lapped the CPU as soon as I took it out of the box and reset all the MB heatsinks. so no heat problems are expected

This is just a +1 to the northbridge and nothing else
the E4300 is running at 400x6 to test the boards FSB so far all I need is 400 .
I took the SS 8 Minutes ago and it is stable I am posting from this right now. Running stable...lets make it bleed.BTW I love the Blue lights underneath the board. ABIT aded a nice touch..... anyway back to buisness

Note core temp and orthos are not detecting the multi corectly. so ignore those readings. CPU-Z is reading the settings right. 15 minute update.

3.6 GHZ At 1.55 vcore.... Those temps cant be acurate....someone point me in the directions of the latest uGuru download...

Nab the latest beta of speedfan it reads the cores correctly, or nab the Intel TAT program.

Glad you've started this thread.

I've just picked up the Quad Gt myself. Arrived in Thailand today. Was torn between this, the striker, commando and IL9 32 Max. Hoping I've made the right choice.

By the way I'm having a QX6700 brought out from the UK in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone here know whether the Quad GT would still be the best choice for that processor. Given limitations on FSB and heat???

Just read this post. A bit of a worry

I borrowed my friend's E6700 and everything works now!!! Vista installed fine and is running right now. In addition, the LAN adapter was detected properly by BIOS as well. So switching out the Quad with a Duo killed both problems with one stone.

However, this means that either there's a problem with my QX6700, there's a problem with my board, or there's a compatibility issue with the QuadGT and the QX6700. When I called tech support yesterday, they claimed that they had not validated the QX6700 with this board (which is weird since it's listed at "Quad Core Ready").

Can someone from Abit PLEASE look into this????

Ruslan, sorry if I'm hijacking your thread or asking in the wrong place.

Have had a look at your pics, which have been pretty helpful.

What I want to do is remove the heatpipe setup. Stick a vantec on the NB, and maybe just a small fan on the SB heatsink.

My question is with regards the mosfets. With my Galaxy II(No comment), I got a little bag with what I think are ram sinks. They have adhesive tape stuck on the bottom. Could I just remove the adhesive tape and stick them straight on to the mosfets, or would I need to add little bit of arctic silver on to the chips first? Maybe a dumb question I know.

On my Aw9d, I just cut off the pipe, but don't really want to bugger my warranty on this board. Thanks ahead for any advice

The RAM-sinks will be too small I think for the PWM-regulators...and the adhesive tape won't be adhesive anymore when you put AS5 underneath them!! You will have to use larger sinks!!

If I were you I would leave the stock cooler and just add a 40mm exaust fan on the part next to the cpu. that cooler is very good as long as you remove the stock thermal pads and reseat the NB with AS5 and apply some zinc oxide cream to the voltage regulators... DO NOT USE AS5 on the voltage regs and DO NOT use epoxy. Just advice.

Ok I went to sleep at 3 AM and didnt do any further testing. that 3.6 GHZ froze windows 7 seconds into orthos so its unstable. Intel did something to E4300 that makes it throtle.... I personally think they want to stop people from buying
~$200 chips and surpasing the performance of there top of the line ones... The board is nice.... Very nice... I think this is a lucky one cuz of 400FSB on the GMHC only needs +.1v.... My case and the rest of my stuff is comming thursday so im gonna leave it in the box till then...but this is good stuff...

My memory hits the wall very hard at 400 no matter what I do. so if I plug the 6400 in Im not gonna get any more than 3.2....

this would be of interesting for me too. i'm currently running on an aw9d-max and can't get above 375 fsb without raising vmch above 1.70v! i'm not willing to do that for every day use.

if you want to try the e6400, you can simply loosen memory timings. may be 5-5-5-15 might get you somewhere above 400 fsb. i plan on changing my aw9d-max for a quad ...

also it would be interesting if this board really keeps the 1066 strap above 400 fsb. almost all 965 boards are loosen timings at a certain point. mostly at or near 400 fsb!

Ill get an e6400 in a few weeks after I find someone who wants a new comp Ill just build it around this chip and replace it with the 6400.... I really really dont wanna touch my dq6 and the 6400 in it.... it has been running for 5 months straight at 3.2 at stock with no problems what so ever.... I sold it to a dude cuz I wanted something new to play with and if something goes wrong Ill loose my cash. this setup is cheaper than that one .

understand! well, in this case, don't go into all this hassle! thought you have an e6400 lying around ...
but if you find the time it would be interesting to check if the abit quad really keeps the latency (1066 strap) above 400 fsb.
as i said it would be the first 965 board i have heard about doing this.
