Don't you think the title of this thread is a bit misleading? Maybe someone will change it something more appropriate for you.

Although, some kind of program for DX10 on XP exists. Actually, you can even download that DX10 for XP, alpha version. I don't know does it work but if you're brave enough, try it out. Also, I would recommend backing up the system before installing that.

Download DirectX 10 for windows XP is available now. This DirectX 10 for windows XP still in alpha stages and isn’t the original of DirectX 10 files from Microsoft. As Microsoft has announced that the DirectX 10 currently support to Windows Vista only.

However, Cody Brocious the Alky Project leader has released a full preview of DirectX 10 Alky preview compatibility libraries for Microsoft DirectX 10 enabled games. These compatibility libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Windows Vista , and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn’t capable of running it. No reason for gamer to change or upgrade the OS and video card(s) to play the latest games.

It does work, after setting it all up, you can compile and run a few DX10 tutorials, as a proof-of-concept.

According to MS, there is no official way to make DX10 work. They claim it may cause system instability to do more than a proof of concept due to some sort of kernel integration (but then, they aren't exactly an objective party in this).

IMO, if it were possible we would have seen it come into XSOS. nn_step has hacked XP apart more than anyone I can think of out there (with Microsofts consent no less), and although iirc he initially boasted it would be doable it never happened.

So yeah, unless his name is Kevin Mitnick, he lies.

this is what dx9L is going to be it will implement SM4 and the unified shader but it wont have the full hdr library that needs the upgraded kernel
