Basically what i want to know is, can i link two ATI graphics cards even if the motherboard says SLI. Cus SLI is from nvidia right?

It will work good. SLI motherboards are just motherboards with two pcie x16 slots. SLI mobos use NVIDIA chipsets. Unless NVIDIA has some lockout to make ATI cards not work.

yes it wont work![]()
umm, no, it won't work well. There are reasons why the motherboards are labled Crossfire Or SLI, not both. you CAN run two ATI cards in a motherboard that has an Nvidia chipset and two PCI-E 8x/16x slots, BUT you cannot make then render in tandem correctly.Originally Posted by ak_47_boy
It won't be as easy as using a crossfire motherboard but it will work pretty much just as good. AS LONG as they are both 16x. This is what i have read anyway. NVIDIA chipsets are going to be optimized for NVIDIA products, thats obvious. I have a friend that is running two x1800 in a A8N32-SLI Deluxe, it seams to work ok for him, haven't heard of him having problems with it.

ive heard u can use hacked drivers for SLI on ati CF mobos and CF on NVIDIA SLI mobos
Your friend might have 2 x1800's but they're working independently from each other a.k.a. no crossfire. Have him run benches and compare it to cards in true crossfire. In order to run both cards in "crossfire mode" you'll need a crossfire mobo or a hacked bios, but those are buggy.

Hacked SLI drivers make SLI work on 975 and maybe 965...but there are no hacked X-fire drivers to make it work on an SLI mobo.Originally Posted by One_Hertz
