How good is the DQ6?

Hi y'all

I have searching threads and hearing conflicting reports about the DQ6!!

I have a 6600 build comin soon and want to chose a motherboard!
The Asus DH / WS Pro are serious contenders as is the unreleased AW9d-Max, but I also fancy the DQ6 (I am not that bothered by Crossfire though I believe modded drivers could help this board support it!).....but I want to try and hit 3.6ghz on air (got a Si-120 + SilenX 64cfm)!

Can DQ6 owners / peeps who have tested give me their honest opinion of it.?!?

I like mine, can hit over 490 fsb with all stock coolers and it clocks RAM very well. There are a few bugs when it comes to booting, but no board is perfect yet.

I dont know if I would recommend it over bad axe or p5w dh but overall its a decent board IMO.

Oh - I should mention I do kind of like the board. The ALC888DD audio chip is nice. I wish it had a 2nd gigabit ethernet port though.

But in hindsight I would have gone with the P5B Deluxe if I had known beforehand it had DTS Connect.

Ugh...I hate that infinite powercycling crap...my old Epox Intel board decided to throw an infinite powercycling fit and it killed my Antec TruePower 550 (this was more impressive back when 550 was still a big number heh).

I couldn't find my receipt for my Antec so I couldn't even get it fixed under warranty. Well, the PSU wasn't completely dead but it blew out the fan rail and it started to smell like burning PCB.

I guess my point is that I hate infinite powercycling because it can kill even a pretty hardcore PSU =(

Hey good point - what if you are away from your computer for a day, and it decides to reboot, but winds up in an infinite reboot cycle? You'll have a dead PC in no time! Arrrgh.

As to infinite reboot cycle, yes it happens but only with too agressive
settings. Once you get fsb settings that work, no more cycling.

On the other hand, everything works...sound, LAN, IDE port.
Only thing that's a little odd is that the fsb 'wall' for booting is less than
the fsb wall in windows. For example, the highest fsb I can boot into windows with my E6600 is 9x379, regardless of Vcore. But once in windows, I can raise
Vcore via Easy Tune and go much higher. I passed a few iterations of
prime 95 at 412 fsb and 1.55 v Vcore. So, if you want to run at full speed
in windows, then assign the higher 'windows' value of fsb in Easy Tune, and boot at the lower value set in BIOS. Easy Tune will automatically adjust
to the higher fsb once in windows.

SETFSB P965 works fine with the DS3. I think it works too on a DQ6.

I had this board but just had to stop using it and now it sits on my shelf. The dreadful power recycling and rebooting in a circle was F****** horrible ! worse I have ever seen in all my LGA775 mobos that I have owned since many from 2004.
I belive this could be attributed to the early 965P stepping C1 and Gigabytes deceptive marketing campaign to brainwash us into thinking the DQ6 was the ultimate heavy duty overclocking board with its quad quad quad bulls*** !

I'm back on my MSI 975X Conore board and its a dream to o/c compared to this GigaS**T !

You try F4 series bios? Since Ive flashed that I can boot up to 450 (hi as ive tried so far) and havent had any power cycling.

asus p5b dlx is probably the best atm, subject opinion, based on high FSB ability

I tried both 15a1 and a2 setfsb. I can set the fsb, but it doesn't boot into
windows at the value I set. Maybe it isn't designed to, there's no
"boot into windows at this setting" option or anything like that.
Appears that it retains the fsb setting only as long as your are in windows.

mate i have the F4 and reboots like mad sometimes. Can you post your BIOS settings? in the OCING menu and chipset settings.
