Comes with heatspreaders already attached now? (TXDD2048M800HC4DC)

So I just received my new Team Xtreem PC6400 CL4 ram and found out the heatspreaders are already on it? The package was still sealed with the sticker, so it's not like the shop I bought it from did it...

I really like the idea of being able to see the chips and having the choice of attaching the heatspreaders or not .

Why the change, and is it indeed a change or did something go wrong here?

I also expected to receive the 512MB USB drive with it but I did not get it, but I guess that's something to ask the shop about.

The heatspreaders attached because team got tons of RMAs from people that failed to attach them and damaged the memory

    Can you post a pic?
When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

To Team: now that you have decided to attach the heatspreaders, it would be nice if you could openly tell people what chips are being used. For example if you enter your S/N on the Team Group website, it tells you which chips it has. Can someone from Team confirm this has Micron D9GMH chips? And I am wondering if it's Fat Body?

    On another note:
Sniff , now I can't see the gorgeous chips and confirm for myself they are sweet Micron chips! Infact! Maybe they just put poopy chips on my ram and then put on the heatspreader to hide it! :P

I can't post a pic, but I also don't see how that would be useful, since the heatspreaders are on the RAM, so all you can see is the stickers, which just have the usual info about speeds and latency and such. Also the S/N. And the heatspread is their usual one with the shiny silver look and Xtreem name with a big red X .

what they should do, is make "heat spreader less Ram available, only through special order, not a retail item you normally get, but something you have to specifically request and order directly through team.

Kemo6600 explains the reason why we starting to pre installed the HS. Thanks Kemo6600! Furthermore, we are getting mix messages of some customers wants it on rather than off.

I do understand your concerns jjwa, but I can assure you ALL TEAM XTREEM RAMS are MICRON D9 IC's, and sir your PC6400 IS D9GMH.
and you are right about the pen drives. Please contact with the shop you purchased from to find out the details. Perhaps they ran out of it already since each distributor have only limited QTY of the FREE PEN drives.

That ain't a bad idea. I will speak for our NA customer to factory and see what kind of option we can offer to our customer. Thanks Kunaak.

    To our dear customers:
FEEL FREE to PM me if you wonder what kind of IC is on the pre installed HS kit if you have recently purchased from our NA distributors. I repeat ALL TEAM XTREEM RAMS were MADE by MICRON D9 IC's and TEAM XTREEM DARK SERIES were made by PROMOS IC (we will announce to the
public if there are any changes in the future).

That's awesome, I'm glad you guys are in the open with this. One of the things I hate purchasing on a pc is RAM because it seems manufacture try to hide this. And it feels like christmas everytime I get one of these because you never know what you paid for. I hope to see Team brings out those GKX on their next lineup soon because my next purchase will be TG!

its a great idea if you guys can follow through on it.
sometimes I just flat out avoid ram, simply cause I have no way of knowing whats on that ram, being able to clearly see from day 1 would greatly increase my interest in the ram.

especially when I get a weird idea, like ramsinks I want to try...

    Thanks for the replies .
I see I still picked Team for the right reasons, not only great ram, but also good support and still being open about their chips .

I also agree with Kunaak, I just hope it would not rise the price a lot since it would require some extra administration and handling.
