Thread: Which pots control OVP on PCP&C 510W Deluxe

    Which pots control OVP on PCP&C 510W Deluxe

    I want to know which pots are the OVP ones for which rail.

    The 2 pots on the very left are to adjust the 12v and 3.3v rail (higher or lower voltage), which leaves me to think 3 of the 4 pots on the right are for 5v, 3.3v and 12v OVP but in which order and what is the 4th one for?

    Also, if i want to make it so the OVP only comes in at higher voltages, do i just replace the pots with 2K ones (and if so, how much extra headroom would it give me)?

    If any more pictures are needed, i'd be happy to take them. Just let me know.

    Here you are sir.

    I dont think changing the OVP pots will give you more headroom. If you turn them all the way down to zero ohms, you will pretty much have zero OVP protection.

    But I could be wrong. You can always change them to see what you get. Keep in mind that the 3.3v rail will push close to 4v as it is once you change its pot out...without having to adjust the OVP pots at all.

    Now I have one more question i forgot to ask:

    Which way do i turn the OVP pots to get 0 ohms? The pots for the 12v and 3.3v you turn clockwise for higher voltage, but is it the same for setting the OVP higher?

    Here is a pic of the PCB behind the pots, which looks like the pots grounding etc are opposite to the voltage ones.

    Since 2 of the legs are shorted together, you will always get zero resistance between them. I would take an initial resistance between the 2 pins for each of the OVP VRs that I circled and write them down before making any changes....dont forget to write down what VR gives each resistance just in case they give different readings. That way after adjusting them if you have a problem you can simply readjust to the factory default and try again.

    After writing down your initial readings you are ready to go. For this VR with those 2 legs shorted, turning it clockwise should decrease the resistance between the 2 pins I circled and hopefully upping the OVP state.
