Benchmarking OS help thread

following Clint's advice I have began stripping windows XP (32 bit because the drivers are alot easier to work with)
Requiring only 200MB harddrive space and A MIN of 128MB of Ram.
With a Native install only using 80MB of Ram and I need some volunteers to help with Beta testing. What is required is a working CD burner and an open rig.
I had to remove a lot of Drivers, so you will need to download and burn your drivers in advance. The CD key and activation is Baked in, so no Cracks required.

Did a reformat with a clean install on msi neo 2, 3200 venice, 2x512 ocz plat rev 2. No problems. Board, graphics, and lan drivers all installed with no issues. Tomorrow I'll start overclocking and benching. Looking good

I will beta test and help if needed, not much skills though so I guess most will be testing

Btw good initiative does the install includes a changelog? Without knowing what has been removed and what premade registry changes have been made it would be pointless to compare with a normal tweaked xp. Or am I totally off and is all tweaking still required, which would make sence when considering tweaks are dependant on system and benchmark. Would be nice if the install would come with a program which will set up the os for any specific benchmark. For instance reg tweaks would be easy this way but idk if it's really practical since you can do the same with .reg files :S

Btw NN with 8 seeders and me as only leech the speed is embarasing. Granted it isn't a big file but I would like to have it before tomorrow, I might get some results up before 4X4N

Sounds like a plan, any and all suggestions to make XS's new Benching OS better Please share. We will do the best we can to fix all problems and improve performance

Is it Sp2 or Sp1 or before?? I think SP2 is supposed to be faster.

SP2 but as a word of warning in a few Cases attempts to emulate DOS games didn't work well but outside of DOS I haven't heard any problems
edit: except for slow Download speed but Thanks to NickS that is going to speed up rapidly soon

Nneway, in it's naked state the iso consists off windows without (a> drivers you don't need.... b>... ). Yup you guessed it idk what else. You haven't answerd the question about the changelog either. Is possix/os2 already disabeld/removed? Stuff like that... If you pm me a list off made changes to the iso I would gladly put together a changelog to put in the iso.

This is a good idea since everything in my XP is disabled. I just have about 1GB sitting there wasting space. DLing from NickS at 300K, nice.

Got it installed without a problem. I noticed no difference in SuperPi performance. I didn't get in 3D benchmarks run through because my drivers are screwed up. I tried these NGO custom drivers out, and they gave me a bunch of errors. So I tried Omega, and performance was down 25% for some reason.

It comes with some tweaks and is small so that's good.

Finally got some time to work with this last night. 1m pi time is pretty much the same, 32m about 2 sec. faster. 3dmark01 gained over 300 points. 3dmark03 gained about 150. Not a lot of difference, but I like this stripped down version. Looking forward to your special treat. Thanks for all your work on this nn_step

I'd love to see a new OS for live folding.
Overclockix, Overfoldix, Foldix are getting too old to run on some newer systems, and I've been thinking of running some diskless rigs.
