Im kind of curious as to why both Asus and Gigabyte are using this Jmicro controller?
I know with the P5WDH, you cant hook optical drives on that JMicro controller... It also said so right in the manual. It totally makes that controller unusable for me since my hard drive cables cant reach that far using a V2000 case.
F*** i am begining to think that i made a big mistake when i bought this board....
Kaiser28:
Why? I have to say this is one of the best piece of hardware I've ever purchased. Running e6300 @ 3.3Ghz completely stable so far![]()
...
yeah, you are right from the reviews i saw its one of the best thats the reason i bought it but it seems gigabyte is saying that everything is working fine .. raid and irq while on the other side users are finding problems when using Raid and the irq issue.
Keep emailing and calling Gigabyte...it's the only way to get things done.
Jmicro controller isn't bad. I use it on my P5B and my both optical drive are in DMA and work correctly.

Mine changed to pio mode randomly yesterday, set it back to dma and rebooted and all is fine again.
Lestat , i got this mail back from Gigabyte tech ( dont have a DS3 at this moment , its ordered with my E6700 )
Dear Sir,
For the suggestions 1,4,5,7, we are sorry that we cannot modify the BIOS for suggestions 1.4.5.7 due to our policy. Sorry for inconveniences.
For the suggestion 2, we cannot duplicate the problem (SATA RAID mode. please see screenshot as attached).
For the suggestion 3, what devices have you installed?
For the suggestion 6, how do you get that CAS=5 in BIOS? Actually the default of CAS was AUTO in the BIOS.
Best regards,
FAE

I'm getting this board but just sticking to single sata drive. Well except for the 4x raid array on this sick hardware raid card I got from a friend. I think I'll save all my DVD rips onto this 4 disk setup and have some funzorz
.
it's never fast enough!

Hi folks I just want to tell you guys that I have the IRQ problem too but my problem actually causes system problems.
I have a pci wireless card that would cause the pci express graphics card (bfg 7800gtx) to not work (no signal) when it is placed at PCI slot 1. If I put in PCI it boots up but would hang the system during driver installation (never had this problem before with previous system). I would guess that it's the IRQ sharing that's causing this.
This is the year 2006 and I can't believe I still have problems with IRQ!!!!
Great board for overclocking but crappy for everything else. I'm returning it and getting the foxconn

Just got my DS3 built - my DVD burner is listed as Ultra DMA Mode 2. It is a Plextor PX-740A (IDE). Is this a problem? Should it be Mode 4? Was the PIO mode issue resolved by Gigabyte? I'm using the F4 BIOS.![]()

I've been reading through this thread with interest. Are all the ones experiencing the problem using a USB or PS/2 mouse? Does changing to the other type (USB to PS/2) make any difference.
If Gigabyte can't replicate the problem it suggests they have a different hardware setup.
Just a thought.
cheers
Posting here, and watching for a solution to the IRQ problem. I just put my E6300 rig together this weekend using an S3 mobo. I will also fill out the Gigabyte form.
I have the same problem as most with several things on IRQ 16 (including my video card), and several other things on IRQ 18 (including my sound card). Sorry I can't post a pic right now.
Someone posted having problems with IE, and thought it might be this issue.
I have problems with both IE and Firefox somtimes (might be the fact that the Gyga-lan and Video Card are on same IRQ?). Sometimes if I go to start>favorites>click on a link my system hangs, and firefox doesn't open. Then I try to open IE, and same thing. Then if I go into task manager and find them under the processes tab and stop them, everything is fine. Also, Regcleaner (an awesome utility I've used for years and can't live without) just hangs when I click on it and never opens. I have to go to the processes tab to stop it, but then it does the same thing if I try again.
This IRQ thing is bull$i7 and really needs to be fixed. I checked my DFI nF4 Ultra-D before I put together my new rig, and it didn't share one thing on any IRQs.
OK, here is my image.
I also just experienced the erratic mouse movements that other people have reported. My mouse is plugged into the PS/2 port.
I tell you what - This is absolute crap for someone that wants to play multi-player games with a mouse (which I assume is about 90% of the people that buy this board). This needs to be fixed ASAP!

This is how Nero is seeing it. The SATA drive on that unknown adapter is my Windows System attached to the JMicron controller using AHCI.
And this is the HD Tach results for that drive.
