What boards work well with the 915? Like not necessarily brands, but chipsets. Though specific boards would help me out too! I'm an AMD guy, but these cheap dual cores look good.

kinda sad these werent around 3 months ago, they would have been great back then.
today, they seem kinda hard to want, since even the lowest conroe, offers higher OC and game potential then this...

however. I am liking that 12 multiplier

I think these are great upgrade cpu's for people with I955X and 975X mobos that doen't support C2D cpu's or just don't have the money for new cpu and mobo.

Got the 915,....did some limited testing over this last weekend.

Everything was fine up to 299Mhz FSB. At that speed (4,192Mhz -- 299x14) cpu needed 1.325 in bios. cpu-z & AIbooster reported as 1.33 and 1.29 at max droop. Used a Big Typhoon cooler, idle temp 34 C , load 40C. Ambient was approx. 21C.
The problem was that 300Mhz FSB would not post. Mobo is a P5LD2 Deluxe that has operated at 350 Mhz before. No amount of tweaking seemed to help. I found that I was not on the newest bios. Flashed to the most recent that stated support for C1 cpus...and re-booted,...didn't fix the FSB problem but everything was otherwise fine. However the next time I restarted the computer, instead of a post screen there was a message that the computer was in the middle of erasing and re-flashing the bios on its own. I believe it rolled back to a much older bios. Anyway now I get no post at all so it looks I'm done testing this cpu for the time being. I'll try an older cpu ( prescott) in the board and see if it posts.
Anyone know what that spontaneous re-flash thing was??
Seems like a pretty decent cpu for the money though.

Is this a good temporary chip while waiting for conroe's to ship?

I don't think I'll be getting my conroe for awhile, and the 805 D's have too many problems with thier low fsb..

not bad overclock - i don't like the D series. they tend to give out high Ghz but their performance isn't that great even tho its look like it
