    6400@ 3.96 ghz. Stable at 3.6.

heres the max I am able to get on air, with my 6400.

3.96 ghz. unstable, but still kinda cool to see.
can get 3.75 ghz stable, but requires 1.5 volts to do so, which I am not comfortable with.

I used 1.5 volts for burning in with Prime95, and running 32M at 3.6 ghz, but its overkill for burning in purposes, as 3.6 ghz is stable for me at 1.4 volts.

it was probably a severly neuterd shot, like cas 5-5-5-15.
I really wasnt going for super pi times, but just testing max limits.
this was all done yesterday, so I am just tweaking it today

We only know what cpu you used and that it was some kind of a Gigabyte mb. Any chance of posting what hardware you did use?

Why not give Prime a little more time than 41 minutes? I usually do 8 hours.

    No it's not.

As more 6400s are making their way into people's hands, the numbers are climbing and 3.6GHz is quickly becoming the average. 3.8GHz has become the target pretty much.

I suspect that the boards are holding typically holding the 6400 back more than anything right now, far too many of the Conroe boards simply can't handle beyond a 450MHz FSB. Users are blaming their luck of the draw with the chip quality, but in reality they'd likely be surprised to find out it was the board that limited them.

As an example, my 6400, on air, with an unmodded Bad Axe, matched Kunaak's to the letter and topped out at a dual-prime stable 462MHz x 8.0. Easy as pie with the 2MB chips.

Now the 4MB chips...those are another story. Takes a little more luck to hit 50%+ overclocks with the 6600/6700. Best I could do with a 6700 was 3.68GHz at 1.6v, and it was crazy hot (ninja air). Definitely need a wc or phase setup to probe the limits of the 4MB chips. But the 2MB models are child's play.

cool maybe we will see a 8x500fsb on air for pi 1m soon

also i thought many E6600 ES have been hitting 4, 4.1GHz for pi 1m, does this mean ES5 > retail?

16:30 is the average for me at 3.6 ghz at 8 x 450, but thats literally with zero optimizations.

I put zero effort into PI.
just use it for stability testing so far.

cas 5-4-4-10 is my regular easy speed for this 5400UL at when not really trying for anything special. when I just dont want to worry about the ram I set it to cas 5-5-5-15.

I think a number of people will find that the difference will come in a different heatsink for the chipset. Even at only 325x8 the coolermaster blue ice 2 that's on mine gets very warm to the touch when priming, those aluminum fins and the small fan buried within do the job nice, but I shudder to think those trying to reach 450 plus with the stock heatsink, even with a fan.

Just one Prime95 isn't enough. You need dual Prime95 and let them run for 24 hours to call it stable. Well just my opinion.

true... if it's not dual prime stable then it's not really stable. That's why the temps seemed a little low for air priming... didn't even notice.

Still takes a spanking. Seems pointless running 3.6 when 3.5 is a sweet spot
