    4850 cooled by Accelero 2900

    Hello
Today i decided to take the shoot and after some time with my gf named "grinder" that is pretty loud and two disks this is what i've got..Unfortunetly i can't test the "under load" situation until new version of rivatuner is here..
I am a little dissapointed because i expected more really but anyway i make use of the nice accelero 2900 cooler without throwing it..
The thermal paste used is a Arctic Cooling Arctic silver Ceramique
This is done at 70% RPM rate. With 100% rpm there are ONLY 2 degrees lower and is kinda loud..
    Enjoy

It's possible that you've plateaued off on how much you can cool it too. A VF700 cools my HD 3850 to about ~36 at idle - I doubt I'd go much lower even with an Accelero.

Might have another component touching somewhere causing pressure to be a bit weird.

    Also ambient temps..

so your saying the Accelero 2900 fits on the 4850, is the 4870 close enough that the Accelero 2900 might fit on that also?

    with some grinding/mods

    thanks

5 out 8 bolts from accelero fit with 4850 PCB

This is how my case is looking in normal operation except it stands vertically..
Full Load is 44C max.I tested with FurMark and also when i tried overcloking and you test frequencies begins to stress the GPU at max and you get a full load temp..
Yesterday i've done a very stupid thing..
I wanted to see nvidia medusa demo so i needed to switch in vista x64.Unfortunetly in vista x64 the CCC have a problem like this

And also i forgot about the fan profile that needs to be activated and i runned the demo WITHOUT the fans spinning and i runned it twice because the demo crashed at some point and i thought i've clicked stupidly..After the second crashed i realized that fan profile doesn't exist because i am in vista so i said.."OH sh.t"..I don't know if the demo crashed because the higher temps or other reason.I tried to touch the Accelero 2900 and it was hot but not so hot like the 2900 stock cooler in full load.Yes i could touch it.. lol..80degrees or something i think..Anyway in desktop you can run without any accelero fan spinning at idle with temps around 68C constant.. :P

4870 is different in the electric circuitry side of the pcb (vrm side is on the right of GPU)..You are more lucky than me..take a look at this pic...
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/D...ages/front.jpg <--- 4870 PCB
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/P...ages/front.jpg <--- 4850 PCB
You have to cut the fins only on the thrid accelero fan to go over the VRM part on the right. That's it.. The rest of the pcb is clean..Unfortunetly with 4850 there are some capacitors on the middle top of the card..You can see them in the first pic on this post... good luck
